What is happening?

Various Roads, Yeovil in the Parish of Yeovil (Temporary Traffic Restrictions) Order 2024

Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, intends to make an Order, the effect of which will be to introduce the following temporary traffic restrictions as specified in the Schedules below. This Order will come into operation on the 31st day of October 2024 and will remain in force for eighteen months. The Works are to be phased (as signed on site) and expected to commence on the 4th day of November 2024 until the 14th day of January 2025 (between 00:00 hours and 23:59 hours) to enable the appointed contractor, Taylor Woodrow, to undertake improvement works. The restrictions will only apply when indicated by traffic signs.

Schedule 1
Temporary One Way (southbound)
Hendford, Yeovil (phase 1) – from its junction with the Medical Centre access road in a southerly direction to its junction with Brunswick Street.

Schedule 2
Temporary Prohibition of Vehicles
Manor Road, Yeovil (phase 2) – from its junction with Hendford for a distance of 30 metres
Hendford Grove, Yeovil (phase 3) – from its junction with Hendford for a distance of 30 metres
Hendford, Yeovil (phase 4) – from its junction with Brunswick Street to its junction with South Street

Statement of reasons for making the Order

a) because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road; b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.
