A570 Southport Road - Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic to Allow Carriageway Resurfacing Works
What is happening?

(A570 SOUTHPORT ROAD, ORMSKIRK, WEST LANCASHIRE BOROUGH) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of A570 Southport Road, Ormskirk from C133 Grimshaw Lane, Ormskirk to A59 County Road, Ormskirk.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative daily between 0930 hours and 1500 hours from Tuesday 29th October 2024 until Tuesday 5th November 2024 or until completion of the works within this period. The prohibitions will only be operative when indicated on site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:- A59 County Road, Ormskirk – A59 Holborn Hill, Ormskirk – A59 Liverpool Road, Main Carriageway (Ormskirk), A59 Northway, Aughton (into Sefton Borough) – A59 Northway, Sefton Borough – A5147 Westway, Sefton Borough – A5147 Liverpool Road North, Sefton Borough – A5147 Southport Road, Sefton Borough – A5147 Mairscough Lane, Sefton Borough (into West Lancashire Borough) – A5147 Mairscough Lane, Downholland – A5147 Delf Lane, Downholland – A5147 Wanishar Lane, Downholland – A5147 Southport Road, Downholland – A5147 Mill Brow, Halsall – A5147 New Street, Halsall – A5147 Halsall Road, Halsall – A5147 Gorsuch Lane, Scarisbrick – A570 Southport Road, Scarisbrick – A570 Southport Road, Ormskirk and vice versa.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow carriageway resurfacing works to be carried out by Lancashire County Council.
