Suffolk Street, Queensway, Slip Roads, Lyon Queensway Etc - Prohibition Any Vehicle For Works
What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 (AS AMENDED) SECTION 14(2)
(SUFFOLK STREET QUEENSWAY SLIP ROADS, LYON QUEENSWAY ETC., CITY CENTRE)
(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) (No. T7935532) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is hereby given that Birmingham City Council intend, not less than twenty-one days from the date of this Notice, to make an Order the effect of which will be to:
1. prohibit any vehicle to enter LYON QUEENSWAY when travelling northbound on SUFFOLK STREET QUEENSWAY NORTHBOUND SLIP ROAD (between the junction with HOLLIDAY STREET and its junction with LYON QUEENSWAY).
The SUFFOLK STREET QUEENSWAY NORTHBOUND SLIP ROAD will be made two-way between this closure point and the junction with HOLLIDAY STREET, and vehicles will return southbound along the slip road to exit via HOLLIDAY STREET.
2. prohibit any vehicle travelling northbound on SUFFOLK STREET QUEENSWAY NORTHBOUND SLIP ROAD at its junction with HOLLIDAY STREET. All traffic must turn left into HOLLIDAY STREET.
3. prohibit any vehicle travelling eastbound on HOLLIDAY STREET from turning right on to SUFFOLK STREET QUEENSWAY NORTHBOUND SLIP ROAD. All traffic must turn left on to SUFFOLK STREET QUEENSWAY NORTHBOUND SLIP ROAD.
4. prohibit any vehicle travelling southbound on SUFFOLK STREET QUEENSWAY NORTHBOUND SLIP ROAD beyond its junction with HOLLIDAY STREET. All traffic must turn right into HOLLIDAY STREET.
5. prohibit any vehicle from turning left out of the PRIVATE ACCESS from Alpha Tower and the Dandara Living residential units on to SUFFOLK STREET QUEENSWAY NORTHBOUND SLIP ROAD. All traffic must turn right into SUFFOLK STREET QUEENSWAY NORTHBOUND SLIP ROAD.
6. prohibit any vehicle travelling northbound on SUFFOLK STREET QUEENSWAY NORTHBOUND SLIP ROAD then westbound on HOLLIDAY STREET from u-turning around the HOLLIDAY STREET end of the traffic island to re-gain access to SUFFOLK STREET QUEENSWAY NORTHBOUND SLIP ROAD. The right-turn from HOLLIDAY STREET on to the Crowne Plaza hotel PRIVATE ACCESS RAMP will not be restricted by this Order.
7. prohibit any vehicle from travelling along SUFFOLK STREET QUEENSWAY NORTHBOUND SLIP ROAD from time to time during the installation/amendment/removal of the necessary traffic signs, road markings and kerb line changes as identified in items 1 to 6 contained within this Notice.
8. prohibit any vehicle from turning right, or straight ahead, from the ONE CENTENARY WAY CAR PARK ACCESS. All vehicles must turn left onto LYON QUEENSWAY.
9. permit contraflow traffic movement on the northbound carriageway of LYON QUEENSWAY between its junction with CENTENARY SQUARE and its junction with SUMMER ROW.
10. permit the reversal of one-way traffic flow on CAMBRIDGE STREET between its junction with LYON QUEENSWAY and its junction with BRINDLEY DRIVE.
11. prohibit any vehicle from turning left out of BRINDLEY DRIVE onto CAMBRIDGE STREET.
12. permit two-way traffic flow on CAMBRIDGE STREET between its junction with LYON QUEENSWAY and its junction with BRINDLEY DRIVE.
13. prohibit loading by any vehicle on CAMBRIDGE STREET between its junction with LYON QUEENSWAY and its junction with BRINDLEY DRIVE.
14. prohibit any vehicle from turning right from the PRIVATE ACCESS for the Paradise Development works onto the westbound carriageway of PARADISE STREET. All vehicles must proceed ahead to SUFFOLK STREET QUEENSWAY SOUTHBOUND SLIP ROAD.
15. prohibit any vehicle from travelling along SUFFOLK STREET QUEENSWAY SOUTHBOUND SLIP ROAD in either or both directions from its junction with PARADISE STREET to its junction with BRUNEL STREET from time to time.
16. prohibit any vehicle travelling westbound on PARADISE STREET from turning left on to SUFFOLK STREET QUEENSWAY SOUTHBOUND SLIP ROAD.
17. prohibit any vehicle from travelling along CAMBRIDGE STREET, LYON QUEENSWAY, PARADISE STREET and SUMMER ROW from time to time.
18. prohibition of motor vehicles restriction along the northbound carriageway of LYON QUEENSWAY between its junction with CENTENARY SQUARE and its junction with SUMMER ROW.
This temporary traffic regulation order is required to construct measures to prevent through traffic between the A38 and Lyon Queensway which is causing safety issues for pedestrians at the Holliday Street traffic island. It is also required to assist with other works that are proposed to be executed in the adjacent areas. Traffic should use the A38 or B4127 Holloway Head/Bath Row and Wheeleys Lane to access the ring road.
Access to frontages and for emergency vehicles will be maintained, as necessary.
These prohibitions shall apply only during such times and to such extent as shall be indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations & General Directions 2016.
The Order will come into operation on the 8th day of November 2024.
The Council is satisfied that the execution of the works will take longer than eighteen months and the Council shall revoke the order as soon as the works are completed.
