Cautley, Cumbria - Temporary Road Closure due to Bridge Works
What is happening?
WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL
(A683 CROSS KEYS, CAUTLEY)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable pumping and bridge works to be carried out ("the Works"), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists), from proceeding along that section of the A683 Cautley, from a point adjacent to a property known as Cross Keys Temperance Hotel, extending in a north easterly direction for approx 100 metres.
A suitable alternative route for vehicles not exceeding 6'6 will be signed and available via the A684, B6259, A685 and the unrestricted section of the A683.
An alternative route for HGV's/vehicles exceeding 6'6" in width will be available as follows:- A685, M6 and A684.

The Order will come into operation on 17th October 2024 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 2 nights, during the hours of 1800 and 0600 and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
