What is happening?
Essex County Council
(A1245 Chelmsford Road, Rawreth) (Temporary Introduction of 40mph Speed Limit) (No.5) Order 2024
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
- To temporarily introduce a 40mph speed limit in that length of road A1245 Chelmsford Road, Rawreth in the District of Rochford, from both of its junctions with Carpenters Arms Roundabout to its junction with Rawreth Lane a distance of approximately 2505m.
The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 17th October 2024, exact dates will be specified on One.network.
The Order will come into effect on 17th October 2024 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Furtherwick Road, Canvey Island) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) Order 2024
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
- To temporarily close that length of Furtherwick Road, Canvey Island in the Borough of Castle Point, from its junction with Long Road to its junction with Waarden Road a distance of approximately 270m.
- To temporarily introduce a ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ in the above length of road for the duration of the closure only.
"The Essex County Council (Castle Point Borough) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019" will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above length of road for the duration of the closure and restrictions in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.
The closure and restriction is scheduled to commence on 18th November 2024 for 12 nights (19:00–06:00), or where stated on a valid permit (EP201HE2351178B – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on One.network. The closure/restriction is required for the safety of the public and workforce while island zebra crossing works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
An alternative route is available via Knightswick Road, Central Wall Road, Somnes Avenue, Canvey Road, Canvey Way Roundabout, Canvey Road, Canvey Road Roundabout North, Canvey Road Roundabout South, Long Road, Furtherwick Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 17th October 2024 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Hall Farm Road, Benfleet) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) Order 2024
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
- To temporarily close that length of Hall Farm Road, Benfleet in the Borough of Castle Point, from a point approximately 40m south east of its junction with Fleet Road for a distance of approximately 30m in a south easterly direction.
- To temporarily introduce a ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction in the above length of road for the duration of the closure only.
"The Essex County Council (Castle Point Borough) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019" will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above length of road only. The closure and restriction is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.
An alternative route is available via Hall Farm Road, Green Road, Fleet Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 17th October 2024 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(High Street, Canvey Island) (Temporary Suspension of One Way) Order 2024
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
To temporarily suspend the one way in that length of High Street, Canvey Island in the Borough of Castle Point, from a point approximately 210m south west of its junction with Knightswick Road to its junction with Foksville Road a distance of approximately 175m. The suspension is scheduled to commence on 4th November 2024 for 12 nights (20:00–05:00), or where stated on a valid permit (EP201HE2351178A – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on One.network. The suspension is required for the safety of the public and workforce while island works and resurfacing works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
The Order will come into effect on 17th October 2024 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Various Footpaths/Footways, Basildon) (Temporary Prohibition of Use) (Streetworks No.6) Order 2024
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
To temporarily close those lengths of footpath/footway in the Borough of Basildon, as detailed in the Schedule.
The works are scheduled to commence after 17th October 2024, as stated on a valid permit. The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on One.network. The footpaths/footways will be closed as stated in each phase and then re-opened to the public. Diversion routes will be signed on location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the footpaths/footways.
The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while mains replacement works are undertaken by Cadent Gas.
The Order will come into effect on 17th October 2024 and may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 4th November 2024 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (BC1101020997948NO – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on One.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while overhead cabling works are undertaken by Openreach.

(Furtherwick Road, Canvey Island) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
To temporarily close that length of Furtherwick Road, Canvey Island in the Borough of Castle Point, from its junction with Foksville Road to its junction with Long Road a distance of approximately 280m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 23rd October 2024 for 2 nights (19:00–04:00), or where stated on a valid permit (EP10000197373 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on One.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while zebra crossing replacement works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
An alternative route is available via Furtherwick Road, Eastern Esplanade, Seaview Road, High Street and Foksville Road, or Long Road, Canvey Road, Canvey Way Roundabout South, Canvey Way Roundabout North, Canvey Way, Canvey Road, Somnes Avenue, Somnes Avenue Roundabout, Central Wall Road, High Street and Furtherwick Road.
The Order will come into effect on 3rd October 2024 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Pitsea Bypass Off Slip Road, Pitsea) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
To temporarily close that length of Pitsea Bypass Off Slip Road, Pitsea in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with Pitsea Bypass to its junction with Broadway Link Road a distance of approximately 220m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 22nd October 2024 for 3 nights (21:00–05:00), or where stated on a valid permit (EP201HE2369209 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on One.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway resurfacing works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
An alternative route is available via Pitsea Bypass, Vange By-pass, Five Bells Slip Road from Southend Road, Southend Road to Pound Lane Roundabout, Pound Lane Roundabout North, Five Bells Roundabout, Pitsea Bypass.
The Order will come into effect on 3rd October 2024 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(St Clements Road, Benfleet) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
To temporarily close that length of St Clements Road, Benfleet in the Borough of Castle Point, from its junction with London Road for a distance of approximately 100m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 23rd October 2024 for 1 night (19:00–23:00), or where stated on a valid permit (AD037063793131 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on One.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while sewer replacement works are undertaken by Anglian Water.
An alternative route is available via Lea Road, Stanway Road, London Road and vice versa (with access only to 81 Clements Road).
The Order will come into effect on 3rd October 2024 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
