Wigan - Multiple Temporary Road and Footpath Closures due to Works

Notice of Proposals

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Glebe Street Back Service Road East 82-144, Leigh) (Temporary Closure) Order 2024.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven in Glebe Street Back Service Road East 82-144, Leigh during the period of three days commencing on 16/12/2024 to 18/12/2024.

The alternative route for traffic is Prescott Street, Glebe Street, Chadwick Street and Gordon Street. The Order is necessary to allow new water connection.

Public Footpath Tyldesley No. 145, 152, 154, 155 & 159 – Temporary Closure

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Public Footpath Tyldesley No. 145, 152, 154, 155 & 159) (Temporary Closure) Order 2024.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person, except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable use:

Tyldesley No. 145 from Point A at its junction with Garrett Lane, public bridleway Tyldesley No. 144 & 146, as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 370967 401344, to Point B at its junction with public footpath Tyldesley No. 152 & 155, as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 370923 401174 for a distance of approximately 179 metres in a generally south westerly direction.

Tyldesley No. 152 from Point C at its junction with public bridleway Tyldesley No. 153A, as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 371047 401148, to Point B at its junction with public footpaths Tyldesley No. 145 & 155, as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 370923 401174 for a distance of approximately 125 metres in a generally westerly direction.

Tyldesley No. 154 from Point D at its junction with public footpath Tyldesley No. 155 & 159, as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 370885 401183, to Point E at its junction with Chadwick Lane, as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 370945 401020 for a distance of approximately 195 metres in a generally southerly direction.

Tyldesley No. 155 from Point B at its junction with public footpath Tyldesley No. 145 & 152, as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 370923 401174, to Point D at its junction with public footpath Tyldesley No. 154 & 159, as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 370885 401183 for a distance of approximately 40 metres in a generally westerly direction.

Tyldesley No. 159 from Point D at its junction with public footpath Tyldesley No. 154 & 155, as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 370885 401183, to Point F at its junction with public footpath Tyldesley No. 160 & 161, as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 370621 401271 for a distance of approximately 292 metres in a generally westerly direction.

For a period of 6 months, commencing on 18th October 2024.

Alternative routes are available via the public rights of way and road networks as shown on the Order Map. The Order is necessary to enable development to take place.

Public Footpath Tyldesley No. 2 (Part) – Temporary Diversion

Notice of Extension

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, has extended the above Order. The effect of the extension will be to prohibit any person, except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable, from using public footpath Tyldesley No. 2 from Point A as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 368763 402509, northwest to Point B as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 368718 402532 for a distance of approximately 51 metres, until 4th October 2025 or until the completion of the work, whichever occurs sooner.

An alternative route is available from Point A as shown on the Order Map, heading northeast, then northwest and then southwest to Point B as shown on the Order Map, a distance of approximately 108 metres. The Order is necessary to enable development to take place and safeguard the public.
