Temporary Closure Of Byway And Footpaths

The Nottinghamshire County Council

(Sturton Le Steeple Footpath No.17, No.16, No.15 And No.39 And Restricted Byway No.33) (Temporary Prohibition) Continuation Order 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Nottinghamshire County Council HAS MADE an ORDER, under Sections 14 and 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be :
To continue the effects of The Nottinghamshire County Council (Sturton Le Steeple Footpath No.17, No.16, No.15 And No.39 And Restricted Byway No.33 (Temporary Prohibition) Notice 2024.

That Notice came into force on 23rd September 2024. The effects are that : -
No person shall : -
(a) proceed on foot,
(b) cause any pedal cycle to proceed,
(c) cause any horse to proceed and
(d) cause any horse drawn vehicle to proceed, in the following restricted byway at Sturton le Steeple in the District of Bassetlaw : -
Sturton le Steeple byway No.33 from its junction with Bridleway 13 for a distance of approximately 100metres

And no person shall : - (a) proceed on foot,
in the following footpaths at Sturton le Steeple in the
District of Bassetlaw : - Sturton le Steeple Footpath No.17, No.16, No.15 and No.39 (short sections of each) where a new access road is being constructed over the paths.

AND NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that during the period of restriction short alternative routes will be made available around each section of the closures.

IT IS INTENDED that the prohibition respecting the above highway or highways will apply as follows : - To 20th December 2024 inclusive.

The Continuation Order will come into force
on 14th October 2024 and any prohibition contained in the continued Order shall apply on that day and on any subsequent day or days when it shall be necessary for the prohibition to apply to enable works to be carried out and the Order shall continue in full force until the works it is proposed to carry out are completed The duration of this Order may be extended with the approval of the relevant Secretary of State.

The prohibition is required to protect public safety while a new access road is being created.
