Thinford Road, Temporary Road Closure Due To Resurfacing Works

What is happening?

The County Council of Durham (A177 Thinford Road, Tursdale) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024

The Council on 4/10/2024 made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on a 1165 metre length of A177 Thinford Road from A688 Tursdale Roundabout and extending easterly to the junction with Lynn Park Crescent, Cornforth Lane.

It will also be necessary to temporarily suspend the 18 tonne weight restriction on C23 Station Road, Coxhoe between A177 and B6291 as detailed In the County Council of Durham (Variations) (Easington District Coxhoe and Durham City) (Temporary Weight Restriction) Order 2006 (Amendment No.1) Order 2017 to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be undertaken. An alternative route will be available to vehicular traffic from the western side of the closure from A688 / A177 Tursdale Roundabout northwards on A688 to Junction 61 Interchange at Bowburn then south easterly on B6291 through Coxhoe to the junction with A177 to the eastern side of the closure, and vice versa.

The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence on Monday 14/10/2024 and anticipated to be completed between 7pm-6am over 10 nights. On occasions, alternative dates for closure may be necessary and these will be signed accordingly.
