Shields Road Area - Waiting Restrictions
What is happening?
THE BOROUGH COUNCIL OF GATESHEAD (SHIELDS ROAD AREA, PELAW/BILL QUAY, GATESHEAD) (WAITING RESTRICTIONS) TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2024
Notice is hereby given that on 03 October 2024 the Borough Council of Gateshead (“hereinafter referred to as the Council”) made the above Order in exercise of its powers under Sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 4 and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”), by virtue of the Traffic Management Act 2004 and all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Northumbria Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act.
The Order, which comes into effect on 11 October 2024, will:
(a) introduce a prohibition of waiting at any time along the lengths of road set out in the Schedule below; and
(b) amend the Borough Council of Gateshead (Shields Road Area Pelaw/Bill Quay) (Traffic Restrictions) Order 2012 by varying Item 1 ‘Station Road’ in Schedule 2 ‘No Waiting between the hours of 9:00am to 6:00pm operating from Monday to Saturday (Inclusive)’ by revoking item (a)(i) and inserting the following:
1. Station Road, (i) East, (a) from a point 10 metres south of its junction with Brack Terrace to its junction with south Parade. (b) from junction with South Parade to its junction with Dene Gardens. (c) from junction with Dene Gardens to its junction with Shields Road.
(ii) West (a) from its junction with Shields Road in a northerly direction to a point 10 metres south of its junction with Hainingwood Terrace.
A copy of the Order, plan and a statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order may be viewed at the information desk on the ground floor of Gateshead Council’s Civic Centre, Regent Street, Gateshead, NE8 1HH, Monday to Thursday between 8.45am and 5.00pm and Friday between 8.45am and 4.30pm or online at: www.gateshead.gov.uk/trafficschemes.
If any person wishes to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Act or that any requirement of the Act or of any instrument made under them has not been complied with, that person may, within 6 weeks from the date on which the Order is made, apply to the High Court for that purpose.
