What is happening?

(BATH ROAD, ST JOHNS ROAD, THATCHAM)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & REDUCTION
OF SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2024

West Berkshire District Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make an order. The effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in any direction over Bath Road and St Johns Road in Thatcham. Bath Road, between its junction with Green Lane and its junction with High Street. St Johns Road from its junction with Bath Road
to its junction with St Mark’s Close. This order extends to all cycle lanes on Bath Road, Thatcham between High Street and Bourne Road. This order prohibits any vehicle exceeding 20 miles per hour along Bath Road in Thatcham between its junction with Green Lane and its junction with High Street. The alternative route for all vehicles affected by the Order on Bath Road is via Tull Way, Bowling Green Road, Heath Lane, Floral Way, London Road, Chapel Street and vice versa.
The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for pedestrian crossing upgrade works and tactile works undertaken by Volker Highways. The proposed Order will come into effect on 13th October 2024. It is envisaged that the Bath Road closure will be in place on 13th October and 17th November 2024. It is envisaged that the St Johns Road closure will be in place on 18th November 2024. It is envisaged that the speed limit reduction and cycle lane closures will be in place for the duration of the works.

Unless stated otherwise the above orders shall remain in force for a period of eighteen months, or until the works are complete, whichever is the soonest, they will not take effect until approved traffic signs have been erected. Final details of the closure can be viewed on One.Network
