Highways
Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
CANTERBURY AREA
A28 ASHFORD ROAD, CHARTHAM, CT4 7PA (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024
To allow resurfacing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of A28 Ashford Road, Chartham, from 14th October 2024, with estimated completion by 19th October 2024, between the hours of 20:00 and 05:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Nickle Farm, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A28 Ashford Road, Thanington Road, Wincheap, Wincheap Green, A2050 Rheims Way, Harbledown By Pass, Harbledown on slip, A2 Dover Road, Boughton By Pass, London Road, Canterbury Road, A251 Ashford Road, A252 The Street, Maidstone Road, A28 Canterbury Road, A28 Ashford Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
A299 THANET WAY, HERNE BAY & CHESTFIELD. (TEMPORARY 50 MPH SPEED RESTRICTION) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024
To allow tunnel works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to impose a temporary mandatory 50 mph speed restriction on part of A299 Thanet Way, Herne Bay & Chestfield, from 28th October 2024, with estimated completion by 31st December, or until the works have been completed.
The temporary mandatory 50 mph speed restriction on A299 Thanet Way, Herne Bay & Chestfield will be imposed from 400m prior to the tunnel entrance to 50m after the tunnel exit, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
ASHTREES, HERNE BAY, CT6 6EY (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024
To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on Ashtrees, Herne Bay, from 30th October 2024, with estimated completion by 1st November 2024, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed for the entire length, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
BULLOCKSTONE ROAD, HERNE BAY, CT6 7NR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024
To allow installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Bullockstone Road, Herne Bay, from 28th October 2024, with estimated completion by 1st November 2024, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with Owls Hatch Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Bullockstone Road, Greenhill Road, A2990 Thanet Way, Greenhill Road, Thornden Wood Road, Owls Hatch Road, Bullockstone Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
COURTLANDS, HERNE BAY, CT6 6EY (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024
To allow trenching works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on Courtlands, Herne Bay, from 28th October 2024, with estimated completion by 30th October 2024, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed for the entire length, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
PETT BOTTOM ROAD, BRIDGE, CT4 5PB (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024
To allow tankering works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Pett Bottom Road, Bridge, from 17th October 2024, with estimated completion by 21st October 2024, between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with School Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Tapleys Hill, Hardres Court Road, B2068 Faussett Hill, Bridge Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
RIDGEWAY ROAD, HERNE, CT6 7LP (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024
To allow utility and maintenance works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Ridgeway Road, Herne, from 14th October 2024, with estimated completion by 18th October 2024, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 29, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Ridgeway Road, Albion Lane, Forgefields and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
SAVERNAKE DRIVE, HERNE, CT6 7UQ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024
To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on Savernake Drive, Herne, from 14th October 2024, with estimated completion by 18th October 2024, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed for the entire length, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Hawe Farm Way, Rockingham Place and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
THE GREEN, CHARTHAM, CT4 7HU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024
To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of The Green, Chartham, from 28th October 2024, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with Church Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via The Green, Parish Road, Bolts Hill, Shalmsford Street, A28 Ashford Road, Station Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
THORNDEN WOOD ROAD, HERNE BAY, CT6 7NU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024
To allow cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Thornden Wood Road, Herne Bay, from 28th October 2024, for up to one day, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Little Ruckinge Farm, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Thornden Wood Road, Greenhill Road, A2990 Thanet Way, Chestfield Road, Radfall Hill, Radfall Road, Hackington Road, Thornden Wood Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
WALTHAM ROAD & BROADWAY, PETHAM. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024
To allow tree works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Waltham Road & Broadway, Petham, from 14th October 2024, with estimated completion by 17th October 2024, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The roads will be closed between Buckholt Park and Early Farm, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Waltham Road, Kake Street, Church Lane, Duckpit Road, Broadway and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
WATLING STREET, CANTERBURY. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2024
To allow carriageway works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Watling Street, Canterbury, from 3rd November 2024, for up to one day, between the hours of 07:00 and 23:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed Southbound only, South of the junction with St Georges Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via St Georges Lane, St George’s Roundabout and Upper Bridge Street.
The traffic order stating ‘No motor vehicles except for buses and taxis’, shall be suspended on St Georges Lane, to allow for diverted traffic.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
