A592, Kirkstone Pass, Westmorland and Furness - Temporary Road Closure due to Highway Works
What is happening?
WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL
(A592 KIRKSTONE PASS)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Highway works to be carried out ("the Works"), Westmorland and Furness Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists) from proceeding along that section of the A592, Kirkstone Pass, from its junction with The Struggle (Ambleside), extending in a southerly direction to its junction with Greengate (Troutbeck).
A suitable alternative route will be signed made available as follows;
North bound traffic: via the unrestricted sections of the A592, A591 (Ambleside), A593, A591 (Keswick), A66 and A5091 Park Brow.
South bound traffic: via the unrestricted sections of the A592, A5091 Park Brow, A66 (Keswick), A591 (Windermere).

The Order will come into operation on 07 October 2024 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 2 weeks and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
