(Restricted Roads and 40mph Speed Limit) Order 2024
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under sections 81, 82(2) and 83(2), 84(1)(a) and (2), and Parts IV and Part III of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended)
Effect of the order: To Extend: a '30mph Speed Limit' (Currently a 40mph Speed Limit) on the following lengths of road, Thaxted, in the District of Uttlesford.
Road: Bardfield Road, Thaxted
Description: From a point approximately 566 metres east of the junction with Magdalen Green (the current 30mph terminal point) eastwards for approximately 345 metres.
‘The Essex County Council (Various Roads, Thaxted) (Restricted Road and 40mph Speed Limit) Order 2020' is hereby revoked in its entirety however, any roads not mentioned above shall continue in force by virtue of this new Order.
This Order will come into operation on: 04 October 2024

(Byway 18, Saffron Walden)
(Temporary Prohibition of Motorised Vehicles and Horse Drawn Vehicles)
Order 2024
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under
section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (As amended).
Effect of the order: To temporarily restrict Byway 18, Saffron Walden in the District of
Uttlesford, from its junction with B184 Thaxted Road east to its junction with Cole End
Lane approximately 1,620 metres.
There will be an exemption for solo motorcycles.
The restriction is scheduled to commence on 08 October 2024 to 07 April 2025 or where appropriate signs are showing. The restriction is required to prevent further damage to the surface over the winter months.
The alternative route will be via B184 Thaxted Road, Cole End Lane and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 08 October 2024 and may continue in force for 6 months.
(Church Hill, Ashdon) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Church Hill, Ashdon in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 400m south west of its junction with Rectory Lane for a distance of approximately 50m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 28th October 2024 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30042103384 - UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.
An alternative route is available via Church Hill, Walden Road, Ashdon Road, Common Hill, East Street, Radwinter Road, Walden Road, Radwinter Road, Walden Road, Ashdon Road, Radwinter Road, Church Hill or Church Hill, Radwinter Road, Ashdon Road, Walden Road, Radwinter Road, Walden Road, Radwinter Road, East Street, Audley Road, High Street, George Street, Hill Street, Cates Corner, Common Hill, Ashdon Road, Walden Road and Church Hill.
The Order will come into effect on 10th October 2024 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Debden Road, Widdington) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Debden Road, Widdington in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Widdington Road for a distance of approximately 60m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 17th October 2024 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411SA002WFJL963F - Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.
An alternative route is available via Debden Road, High Street, London Road, Widdington Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 26th September 2024 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Lower Street, Stansted) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Lower Street, Stansted in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Chapel Hill to its junction with Grove Hill a distance of approximately 80m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 28th October 2024 for 29 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AZ5011001364966 - Cadent).
The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Cadent.
An alternative route is available via Chapel Hill, Cambridge Road and vice versa (with access only into High Lane and Lower Street).
The Order will come into effect on 10th October 2024 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(High Street, Elmdon) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of High Street, Elmdon in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Heydon Lane to its junction with Freewood Lane a distance of approximately 650m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 14th October 2024 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2370149 - Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while drainage repair works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
An alternative route is available via High Street, Essex Hill, Royston Road, Hollow Road, High Street, The Green, Crawley End Road, Mill Causeway, Hertford Lane, Heydon Lane and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 26th September 2024 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
