CROYDON COUNCIL ROAD

TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984. SECTION 16A

AS AMENDED BY THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION (SPECIAL EVENTS) ACT 1994

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC

COMMUNITY CULTURAL EVENT - KATHARINE STREET. CROYDON

1. Croydon Council, HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate a community cultural event, they intend to make an Order the effect of which will be to temporarily restrict traffic in Katharine Street, Croydon.

2. During the event:

a) Katharine Street will be closed to vehicular traffic between its junctions with High Street, Croydon, and Fell Road.

b) Scarbrook Road will be closed to vehicular traffic at its junction with Surrey Street.

c) One-way working in Scarbrook Road will be suspended between High Street, Croydon, and Wandle Road to allow two-way traffic.

d) The provisions of the Order will not prevent access being maintained for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to any road to which this Order relates, or to any other premises accessible from, and only from, such a road.

3. The Order will come into effect on 05 October 2024 and will be in operation from 05 to 06 October 2024.

4. Whilst the closure of Katharine Street is in force the alternative route for traffic will be via Fell Road, The Croydon Flyover A232, Park Lane Roundabout A232, The Croydon Flyover A232, and Edridge Road.

5. Whilst Scarbrook Road is closed the diversion route for traffic will be via Whitgift Street and Wandle Road.

6. Nothing in the Order shall apply:

a) to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform.

b) to any vehicle involved in the said events, or being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity, or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
