The M4 Motorway Junction 18 to 19 - Temporary Restriction and Prohibition of Traffic

What is happening?

THE M4 MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 18 TO 19) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (a) intends to make an Order on the M4 Motorway South Gloucestershire to allow bridge replacement and associated maintenance to be carried out in safety.

The works are expected to take place over one weekend (19.00 Friday to 06.00 Monday) commencing on or after 18 October 2024.

The effect of the Order would be to:

(a) impose a mandatory 50 or 60 mph speed limit on the M4 westbound from the Parks Farm Access Overbridge to Junction 18;

(b) authorise the closure of:

(i) the M4 eastbound and westbound between Junctions 18 and 19;

(ii) the eastbound entry and westbound exit slip roads at Junction 19;

(iii) the westbound entry and eastbound exit slip roads at Junction 18.

During the closures traffic would be diverted via junctions of the M4 and local roads.

The speed limit (which would not apply to emergency service vehicles) and closures would be clearly indicated by traffic signs throughout the works.

The Order would come into force on 16 October 2024 and have a maximum duration of 18 months.
