Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Oxford, B4495 Donnington Bridge – 7.5 tonnes Weight Restriction

Closure commenced: 19 August 2024

Date of Order: 23 September 2024

Coming into force: 30 September 2024

This Order continues in force an emergency closure Notice introduced for public safety because of critical bridge construction elements to be reviewed/assessed which is anticipated to be undertaken over a lengthy period. This is a 24-hour weight restriction. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle with a weight in excess of 7.5 tonnes (goods and PSVs) to drive or wait on the bridge. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

The order shall come into effect on 30 September 2024 and the Council is satisfied that, due to the nature of the works and public safety considerations, it is necessary for the order to remain in force until the Works have been completed or the order is revoked, whichever is the earlier. Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Oxford – Botley Road, Beckett Street, Cripley Road, Roger Dudman Way

Prohibition of Through Traffic, Parking Suspension, & Bus turns

Date of Order: 16 October 2023

Came into force: 27 October 2023

This Order was introduced because of utility diversions to facilitate Botley Road bridge replacement and Oxford Station upgrade works which were anticipated to be completed 31 October 2024. Complications within the works have resulted in the Botley Road not re-opening as expected and it will remain closed until 31 March 2025.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in:

Botley Road from Mill Street to Beckett Street.

  1. Beckett Street from Frideswide Square southwards for 35 metres, and
  2. Suspension of parking in:
  3. Beckett Street as above, Cripley Road, and from Botley Road to Cripley Place, both sides;

    Also, Cripley Road and Roger Dudman Way at their junctions with Botley Road (prohibition of waiting) will be used for the temporary bus turning areas and passenger drop-off and holding area.

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when and where the measures are in force.

Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.

The alternative routes for traffic are signed via the A34 Oxford ring road.

The relevant parts of the following orders are temporarily suspended for the duration of the works:

  • The Oxfordshire County Council (West Oxford and Osney Mead) (Controlled Parking Zone and Waiting Restrictions) Consolidation Order 2009 (as amended) which permits parking;
  • The Oxfordshire County Council (The City of Oxford) (Central Area) (Traffic Management) Order 2020 which prevents Buses from turning;

    The following orders are revoked:

  • The Oxfordshire County Council (Oxford, Cripley Road & Roger Dudman Way) (Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic) Order 2022
  • The Oxfordshire County Council (Oxford, Botley Road) (Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic) Order 2023

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T12813/AC)

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Oxford, Burchester Avenue

Two to One-Way Restriction & No Waiting

Date of Order: 14 October 2024

Coming into force: 23 October 2024

This Order is being introduced because of water mains renewal works which are anticipated to be completed 13 November 2024. This is a 24-hour restriction.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily restrict two-way traffic to One-Way in that length of Burchester Avenue between Bernwood Road and Underhill Circus in that direction. Waiting will also be prohibited in the section of road for the duration of the works.

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when and where the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic is via Stowford Road, Bayswater Road, North Way, Burchester Avenue.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: 14465/AC)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Oxford, Napier Road & Phipps Road

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 19 August 2024

Came into force: 27 August 2024

Works commence: 30 September 2024

This Order was introduced because of Side Road Entry Treatments as part of the Active Travel Improvements along Garsington Road which was anticipated to be completed 25 October 2024.

The works are now rescheduled for 16.9.24 to 15.11.24. Works will operate between 20:00 and 06:00hrs. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding through the junctions of Napier Road and Phipps Road with Garsington Road. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works. Access for cyclists and pedestrians will be maintained.

There are no diversions relevant to these cul-de-sacs.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T14214/AC)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Oxford, St Lukes Road

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 19 August 2024

Came into force: 27 August 2024

Works commence: 30 September 2024

This Order was introduced because of construction of side road entry treatments as part of the Active Travel Improvements along Garsington Road which were anticipated to be completed 25 October 2024. The work is now rescheduled for 16.9.24 to 15.11.24. This is a 24-hour road closure. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding through the junction of St Lukes Road with Garsington Road for approx. 10 metres.

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works. Access for cyclists and pedestrians will be maintained. The alternative route for traffic is via the B480 and Between Towns Road and vice versa.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T14213/AC)
