What is happening?

Highways

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.

SWALE AREA

A299 Thanet Way, Hernhill. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024

To allow resurfacing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of A299 Thanet Way, Hernhill, from 11th October 2024, with estimated completion by 16th October 2024, between the hours of 20:00 and 05:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed coastbound only, in the vicinity of Dargate Services, from Plumpudding Lane overbridge, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A2 Brenley Corner Roundabout, A2 Boughton Bypass, A2050 Harbledown Bypass, London Road, A290 Whitstable Road, St Thomas Hill, Whitstable Road, Blean Common, Honey Hill, Pean Hill, Clapham Hill, A2990 Thanet Way and A299 Thanet Way.

 

Brogdale Road, Ospringe, ME13 0DN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024

To allow pole replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Brogdale Road, Ospringe, from 10th October 2024, with estimated completion by 11th October 2024, between the hours of 09:00 and 17:00.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Whitehill, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Brogdale Road, A2 London Road, A2 Canterbury Road, A251 Ashford Road, A251 Faversham Road, A252 Canterbury Road, A252 Charing Hill, A20 Maidstone Road, A20 Ashford Road, Rayners Hill, Waterditch Lane, Warren Street, Bunce Court Road, Otterden Road, The Street, Eastling Road, Whitehill and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Clockhouse Lane, Boughton Under Blean, ME13 9LU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024

To allow maintenance works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Clockhouse Lane, Boughton Under Blean, from 27th October 2024, for up to one day, between the hours of 07:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of the rail crossing, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Selling Road, Brenley Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Fisher Street Road, Sheldwich.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024

To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Fisher Street Road, Sheldwich, on or after 9th October 2024, for up to one day, between the hours of 09.30 and 15.30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Woods Court Barn, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Beaneys Lane, Shottenden Road, A251 Ashford Road, Dayton Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Head Hill Road & Seasalter Road, Graveney.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024

To allow gas mains replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Head Hill Road & Seasalter Road, Graveney, from 21st October 2024, with estimated completion by 18th November 2024, or until the works have been completed.

The roads will be closed between the junction with Sandbanks Lane and Gamma Cottage, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for through traffic under 11’6”/3.5m is via Head Hill Road, Whitstable Road, or Staple Street and Staplestreet Road, A299 Thanet Way, A2990 Thanet Way, Borstal Hill, Joy Lane, Faversham Road, Seasalter Road and vice versa.

The alternative route for traffic over 11’6”/3.5m (avoiding the low bridge on Faversham Road) is via Head Hill Road, Whitstable Road, A299 Thanet Way, High Street Road (A299 overbridge and Dargate on-slip in reverse), Monkshill Road and Seasalter Road.

Gate marshals will be positioned on Monkshill Road between 7am and 7pm to control HGV movements, due to the narrowness of the road. An additional gate marshal will be sited on Head Hill Road during school start and finish times, to assist with traffic management.

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

 

Lower Road, Buckland. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024

To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Lower Road, Buckland, from 23rd October 2024, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Stone Crossing Gatehouse, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Lower Road, Bysing Wood Road, B2045 Western Link, A2 London Road, Station Road, The Crescent, Lower Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

St Katherine Road, A250 Halfway Road & Danley Road, Minster-on-sea.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING, TEMPORARY ONE-WAY SUSPENSION & PROHIBITION OF RIGHT/LEFT TURN) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024

To allow gas mains replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic, in phases, on part of St Katherine Road, A250 Halfway Road & Danley Road, Minster-on-sea, from 21st October 2024, with estimated completion by 20th December 2024, or until the works have been completed.

Works Schedule

St Katherine Road, Minster-on-sea

St Katherine Road will be closed from 21st October 2024, with estimated completion by 11th November 2024.

The road will be closed between the junctions with A250 Halfway Road and Filer Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Filer Road, Danley Road, A250 Halfway Road and vice versa.

•  The one-way order on Danley Road will be suspended.

•  The no right/left turns from A250 Halfway Road onto Danley Road will be suspended, to allow for diverted traffic.

A250 Halfway Road, Minster-on-sea

Phase 1

A250 Halfway Road will be closed from 4th November 2024, with estimated completion by 22nd November 2024.

The road will be closed between the junction of Danley Road and Hurst Court, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

Phase 2

A250 Halfway Road will be closed from 2nd December 2024, with estimated completion by 20th December 2024.

The road will be closed between the junction with Park Road and Sheerness Holiday Park, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative routes for both phases are as follows:-

For any through traffic travelling south, the diversion is via A250 High Street, Millenium Way, Bridge Road, A249 Brielle Way, B2007 Main Road and A250 Queenborough Road.

For any through traffic travelling north, the diversion is via A250 Queenborough Road, A249 Brielle Way, A250 Bridge Road, Millenium Way, Trinity Way, Trinity Road, Cavour Road, Invicta Road and High Street.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Tanners Street, Faversham, ME13 7JR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY ONE-WAY SUSPENSION) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024

To allow carriageway works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on Tanners Street, Faversham, from 21st October 2024, with estimated completion by 25th October 2024, between the hours of 20:00 and 04:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Tanners Street, West Street and B2040 South Road.

The One-Way order on Tanners Street will be suspended for the duration of the works to allow access for residents.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Whybornes Chase, Minster-on-sea, ME12 2JR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024

To allow pole replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Whybornes Chase, Minster-on-sea, from 10th October 2024, with estimated completion by 11th October 2024, between the hours of 08:00 and 16:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with B2008 Minster Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via B2008 Minster Road, Glenwood Drive, Abbeywood Drive, Whybornes Chase and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Various Roads, Boughton Under Blean, Dunkirk & Hernhill. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024

To allow gas mains connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of various roads in Boughton Under Blean, Dunkirk & Hernhill. These closures will be carried out in phases, from 7th October 2024, with estimated completion by 24th December 2024, or until the works have been completed.

Road Closures

Horselees Road, Boughton Under Blean

Horselees Road will be closed from 7th October 2024, with estimated completion by 1st November 2024.

The road will be closed between numbers 32 and 2, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for vehicles is via The Street, Colonels Lane and vice versa.

Highview Close, Boughton Under Blean

Highview Close will be closed from 7th October 2024, with estimated completion by 8th November 2024.

The road will be closed between the junction with Horselees Road to number 27, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for vehicles is via St Pauls Road, Burnt Oast Road, Horselees Road and vice versa.

Dunkirk Road North, Dunkirk

Dunkirk Road North will be closed from 7th October 2024, with estimated completion by 22nd November 2024.

The road will be closed for the entire length, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

The Street, Boughton Under Blean

The Street will be closed from 25th October 2024, with estimated completion by 4th November 2024.

The road will be closed from the junction with School Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for traffic is via The Street, Canterbury Road, A2 Boughton Bypass, London Road, Wingate Hill, A2 Dover Road, Brenley Corner, Boughton Bypass, Canterbury Road, Stockers Hill and The Street.

School Lane, Boughton Under Blean

School Lane will be closed from 25th October 2024, with estimated completion by 4th November 2024.

The road will be closed for the entire length, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Staplestreet Road, Hernhill

Staplestreet Road will be closed from 4th November 2024, with estimated completion by 24th December 2024.

The road will be closed between The Paddock to the junction with Dawes Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for traffic is via Bull Lane and The Street.

Dawes Road, Dunkirk

Dawes Road will be closed from 4th November 2024, with estimated completion by 24th December 2024.

The road will be closed from the junction with Staplestreet Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for traffic is via Courtenay Road, London Road, Canterbury Road, Staplestreet Road.
