What is happening?
Highways
Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
CANTERBURY AREA
Cherry Orchard, Chestfield, CT5 3NE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024
To allow utility and maintenance works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Cherry Orchard, Chestfield, from 7th October 2024, with estimated completion by 11th October 2024, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 20, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Cherry Orchard, Chestfield Road, Grasmere Road, Old Fold, Woodvale Avenue, Shepherds Walk and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Fordwich Road, Sturry, CT2 0BF (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024
To allow manhole frame and cover works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Fordwich Road, Sturry, from 24th October 2024, with estimated completion by 25th October 2024, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 24, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Fordwich Road, Water Lane, A28 Mill Road, Sturry Road, Tourtel Road, Military Road, Broad Street, Lower Bridge Street, A2050 St George’s Place, A257 Lower Chantry Lane, Longport, St Martin’s Hill, Littlebourne Road, Stodmarsh Road, Moat Lane, High Street, King Street and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Grove Road, Wickhambreaux, CT3 4BN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024
To allow pole replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Grove Road, Wickhambreaux, from 10th October 2024, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with Grove Ferry Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Grove Road, The Street, Preston Lane, Preston Road, Preston Hill, A257 High Street, Canterbury Road, Wingham Road, High Street, Nargate Street, Wickham Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Hillcroft Road, Herne, CT6 7EP (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024
To allow new service works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Hillcroft Road, Herne, from 8th October 2024, with estimated completion by 17th October 2024, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 18, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Hillcroft Road, Pigeon Lane, Mill Lane, Hillbrow Avenue, Ravensbourne Avenue and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Kingsmead Road, Canterbury. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024
To allow road marking and surfacing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Kingsmead Road, Canterbury, from 19:00 hours on 23rd October 2024, with estimated completion by 07:00 hours on 24th October 2024, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the Northgate roundabout, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A28 Sturry Road, Vauxhall Road, Broad Oak Road, Kingsmead Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Kingsdown Park, St Annes Road & B2205 Tankerton Circus, Whitstable (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024
To allow sewer system improvement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Kingsdown Park, St Annes Road & B2205 Tankerton Circus, Whitstable, from 7th October 2024, with estimated completion by 10th January 2025, or until the works have been completed.
Kingsdown Park & St Annes Road will be closed at their junctions with B2205 Tankerton Circus, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for traffic travelling in a westerly direction is via B2205 Tankerton Road, Tower Parade and Northwood Road.
The alternative route for traffic travelling in an easterly direction is via B2205 Tankerton Road, Fitzroy Road and Northwood Road.
B2205 Tankerton Circus will be closed at the southern side of the roundabout, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for this closure is via the northern side of B2205 Tankerton Circus roundabout.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
These closures are in conjunction with the multi-way lights on B2205 Tankerton Road and St Annes Road.
Middle Wall, Whitstable, CT5 1AW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024
To allow duct works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Middle Wall, Whitstable, from 22nd October 2024, with estimated completion by 23rd October 2024, between the hours of 09:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Waterloo Road, Island Wall and vice versa
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Pier Avenue, Whitstable, CT5 2SB (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024
To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Pier Avenue, Whitstable, from 23rd October 2024, with estimated completion by 25th October 2024, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction of B2205 Tankerton Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Pier Avenue, Northwood Road, Graystone Road, B2205 Tankerton Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Station Road, Chartham, CT4 7HU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024
To allow inspection and associated works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Station Road, Chartham, from 23:30 hours on 7th October 2024, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 8th October 2024, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed 20m either side of the level crossing, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Station Road, A28 Ashford Road, Shalmsford Street, Bolts Hill, Parish Road, The Green and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Sweechbridge Road, Herne Bay, CT6 6TE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024
To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Sweechbridge Road, Herne Bay, from 7th October 2024, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with Neville Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Sweechbridge Road, Heart In Hand Road, Margate Road, Margate Road Interchange, Margate Road, Mickleburgh Hill, Reculver Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Tonford Lane, Thanington Without. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024
To allow structural examination works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Tonford Lane, Harbledown, from 22:00 hours on 24th October 2024, with estimated completion by 06:00 hours on 25th October 2024, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed 20m either side of the Rail Bridge, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works where safe to do so.
Wick Lane, Woolage Green Road & Westcourt Lane, Woolage Green. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2024
To allow highway improvement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Wick Lane, Woolage Green Road & Westcourt Lane, Woolage Green, from 21st October 2024, with estimated completion by 22nd October 2024, between the hours of 09:00 and 16:00, or until the works have been completed.
Wick Lane will be closed between the junctions with Firs Road and Woolage Green Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Wick Lane, Woolage Green Road, Firs Road and vice versa.
Woolage Green Road will be closed between the junctions with Wick Lane and Firs Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Woolage Green Road, Firs Road, Wick Lane and vice versa.
Westcourt Lane will be closed between the junctions with Westcourt Downs and Woolage Green Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Westcourt Lane, Westcourt Downs, Barfreston Lane, Barfreston Road, Ruberries Wood Road, Firs Road, Wick Lane and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during these works.
