What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
THE OLDHAM - RANGE LANE DENSHAW EXPERIMENTAL ONE WAY ORDER 2024

The Oldham Borough Council have today made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which is to introduce a one-way traffic restriction on Range Lane Denshaw from its junction with A6052 Delph Road in an easterly direction for a distance of 85 metres.

The permitted direction being only easterly. The Order made on 30th September 2024 will come into operation on 7th October 2024 for a period of 18 months.

The Executive Director, Environmental Services or any person authorised by him, if it appears to him or that person to be essential in the interests of the expeditious, convenient and safe movement of traffic, and after:-

(i) consulting the Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police, and

(ii) giving such public notice as the Secretary of State may direct, may make modifications of any description to this Order (other than additions) or suspend it.

The Council will consider in due course whether or not to continue the Order in force indefinitely. Within a period of 6 months from the coming into force of this Order any person may object to the making of an Order for the purposes of such indefinite continuation.

Any such objections should be sent to env.traffic@oldham.gov.uk or the Environment Group Solicitor, Oldham Borough Council, Civic Centre, West Street, Oldham OL1 1UL in writing, stating the title of the Order to which they relate and the grounds for making them. Any objections received will be made available for public inspection 

The Order and a map showing the length of road referred to and a Statement of the Council’s Reasons for making the Order may be examined at my office between the hours of 8.40am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday Civic Entrance Tel. 0161 770 4836 Ref: LJM/TO22/21 during the objection period.

If you wish to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or of any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may within 6 weeks from the date of this notice apply to the High Court for the purpose.
