London Borough of Lambeth - Amesbury Avenue - proposed restricted zone, removal of parking places, provision of new free parking places and loading place
What is happening?
LONDON BOROUGH OF LAMBETH
AMESBURY AVENUE - PROPOSED INTRODUCTION OF A RESTRICTED ZONE, REMOVAL OF PARKING PLACES AND THE PROVISION OF NEW LIMITED TIME FREE PARKING PLACES AND A LOADING PLACE.
(This notice is about a proposal to remove lengths of existing residents and shared use parking places, to provide a new loading place and 3 new limited time parking places. To create a “Restricted Zone” in the length of Amesbury Avenue specified in this notice, this would mean that the yellow lines would not show on site but are in operation at any time and to install new cycle stands and relocate the existing cycle hangar outside No. 264 Amesbury Avenue slightly further south-east but it will remain outside No. 264 Amesbury Avenue. Objections or other representations may be made - see paragraph 6.)
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lambeth Borough Council propose to make the Lambeth (Free Parking Places, Loading Places and Waiting, Loading and Stopping Restrictions) (Amendment No. **) Order 202* and the Lambeth (Charged-For Parking Places) *Amendment No. **) Order 202*, under sections 6, 45, 46, 49 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
2. The general nature and effect of the Orders would be:
(a) to create a “Restricted Zone” in that length of Amesbury Avenue which lies between its junction with Hillside Road and No. 205 Amesbury Avenue, which would operate on every day of the week. Within the Restricted Zone waiting and loading/unloading by vehicles would be banned at any time, except for vehicles using the free limited time parking places and loading place to be provided in that road – see paragraphs (c) and (d) below. Loading/unloading would also be prohibited in the Restricted Zone at all times except for vehicles using the Loading/unloading place on Mondays to Thursdays inclusive (note: The Restricted Zone would be indicated by traffic signs at each end, but there would be no yellow lines or kerb markings within the zone);
(b) to provide a new loading place on the north-east side of Amesbury Avenue 2.9 metres south-east of the party wall of Nos. 215 and 217 Amesbury Avenue south-eastward for a distance of 13 metres which would operate on Mondays to Saturdays inclusive between 8 am and 6 pm. On these days vehicles that are being continually loaded or unloaded for periods of up to 30 minutes (with no return within 1 hour) would be permitted to use this loading place;
(c) to remove the existing parking places in Amesbury Avenue, between Hillside Road and No. 205 Amesbury Avenue, and provide 3 new limited time free parking places on the south-west side (i) from a point 3.45 metres south-east of the common boundary of Nos. 254 and No. 256 Amesbury Avenue south-eastward for a distance of 6 metres; (ii) from a point 3 metres north-west of the south-easternmost boundary wall of No. 217 Amesbury Avenue south-eastward for a distance of 6 metres; and (iii) from a point 9.42 metres south-east of the south-easternmost boundary wall of No. 217 Amesbury Avenue south-eastward for a distance of 12.8 metres, each parking place would operate on Mondays to Saturdays inclusive between 8 am and 6 pm for periods of 30 minutes, with no return within 1 hour.
(d) to provide new cycle stands outside Nos. 209 and outside No. 254 Amesbury Avenue and relocate the existing cycle hangar outside No. 264 Amesbury Avenue further south-east on the same side of the road.
3. The Orders are necessary to improve pedestrian experience through carriageway narrowing, pavement widening, reduced street clutter, seating, and improved public greening including trees and bio-diverse planting as part of a public realm improvement scheme.
