Whitehaven and Egremont - Temporary Road Closures due to Highway Works

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway works to be carried out ("the Works"), Cumberland Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.

Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 30 September 2024 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for as stated in the schedule and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

SCHEDULE

EXTENT OF RESTRICTIONS AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES

1. A5094 Lowther Street, Whitehaven - From 30 September 2024 for approx 1 week

(Ref TTROC/12176)

From its junction with Scotch Street to its junction with Strand Street.

Alternative Route for North West Bound Vehicles: via Scotch Street, Irish Street Swingpump Lane and Strand Street.

2. B5345 Strand Street and A5094 Strand Street Whitehaven - From 7 October 2024 for approx. 3 days (Ref TTROC/12178)

(i) B5345 Strand Street, Whitehaven from its junction with Lowther Street, extending in south westerly direction for approx. 25m; and

(ii) A5094 Strand Street, Whitehaven from its junction with Lowther Street, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 25m.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of Strand Street, Tangier Street, New Road, A595 Loop Road North and Loop Road South, A595, A5094 Inkerman Terrace, Corcickle, Coach Road, B5345 Preston Street, New Town and Swingpump Lane.

3. Beck Green and Cross Side, Egremont - From 14 October 2024 for approx 2 weeks

(Ref TTROC/12097)

(i) Beck Green, Egremont from its junction with Church Street to its junction with Croft Terrace and Cross Side; and

(ii) The entire length of Cross Side, Egremont from its junction with Croft Terrace and Beck Green.

There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.
