Public Path Diversion Order

Footpath 35 Ramsden Crays and Footpath 35 Great Burstead and South Green and Footpath 36 Great Burstead and South Green in the Borough of Basildon On 09 September 2024 Essex County Council confirmed the above order made under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980. The effect of the order as confirmed as shown on the order map is to:

1) Divert a part length of Footpath 35 Ramsden Crays/ 35 Great Burstead and South Green and a part length of Footpath 36 Great Burstead and South Green commencing from a point at the junction with Church Lane just north of the River Crouch CM11 2UN proceeding in a west north-westward direction through scrub, across a hard standing storage area at the western edge of Crays Hall Farm then continuing across the parish boundary of Ramsden Crays into Great Burstead and South Green to the north western field corner, where it then heads north-westward east of the hedge to its junction with Footpath 36 Great Burstead and South Green before finally turning south-westward south of the hedge to the wide hedge gap, to an alternative route commencing from a point in Church Lane south of the aforementioned original point, proceeding generally south westward along the field headland on the southern side of the River Crouch then across an existing culvert to connect with the unaffected Footpath 38 Ramsden Crays just south of the footbridge across the river.

2) Divert a further part length of Footpath 35 Great Burstead and South Green commencing from a point at its junction with Footpath 36 Great Burstead and South Green north west of Crays Hall Farm proceeding generally northward along the farm access track to its connection with Bridleway 34 Great Burstead and South Green, to an alternative route commencing from the aforementioned point at the wide hedge gap, proceeding through the gap north-westward on the eastern side of the hedge to connect to Bridleway 34 Great Burstead and South Green west of its original junction.

A copy of the order as confirmed and order map can be requested to be posted by emailing publicpathorders@essexhighways.org or is available to be viewed at Chelmsford Public Library, Market Road, CM1 1QH during normal working hours. Copies are also available on Essex Highways website at: www.essexhighways.org/public-path-notices and have also been sent to Basildon, Great Burstead and South Village Green and Ramsden Crays Parish Councils. The alternative routes come into force on 08 October 2024 and the old routes will be stopped up with effect from 15 October 2024, but if a person aggrieved by the order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or on the ground that any requirement of the Act, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within 6 weeks from 19 September 2024 make an application to the High Court.
