A690, Meadowfield, County Durham - Temporary Road Closure due to Carriageway Resurfacing Works
What is happening?

(A690 Meadowfield) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024
The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on a 970 metre length of A690 between its junctions with St Johns Road and Sawmills Lane, Meadowfield. The closures will be phased between St Johns Road - Browney Lane and from Browney Lane junction to the Sawmills Lane junction to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be undertaken.
An alternative route will be available to vehicular traffic from the western side of the closure from;
Phase 1 - A690 southeasterly on B6300 Browney Lane and north on A167 to the junction with A690 at Nevilles Cross leading south westerly.
Phase 2 - A690 south westerly on A690, westerly on Stockley Lane, north westerly on B6299 and north on A68 to Tow Law, north easterly on B6301 toward Cornsay Colliery and east on B6302 to A690 at Stonebridge, Nevilles Cross to the eastern side of the closure, and vice versa.
The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence on Saturday 5/10/2024 and anticipated to be completed in 9 nights, between 7pm - 6am. On occasions, alternative dates for closure may be necessary and these will be signed accordingly.
