(Temporary 40mph Speed Limit) Order 2024

Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, intends to make an Order, the effect of which will be to introduce a temporary 40mph Speed Limit as specified in the Schedule below. This Order will come into operation on the 1st day of October 2024 and will remain in force for eighteen months. The Works are expected to commence on the 7th day of October 2024 to the 7th day of October 2025 (between 00:00 hours and 23:59 hours) to enable Somerset Council a safe working area for works to support the Dunball Roundabout Improvement Scheme. The restriction will only apply when indicated by traffic signs.

A38 Bristol Road, Bridgwater - from the A38 Dunball Roundabout in a southeasterly direction for a distance of 175 metres, (in both directions)

A38 Dunball Roundabout, Bridgwater - for its entire length

A38 Bristol Road, Bridgwater - from the A38 Dunball Roundabout in a north westerly direction for a distance of 830 metres (in both directions) A39 Road from Interchange to Roundabout, Bridgwater - from a point 30 metres northeast from the junction with Dunball Industrial Estate Road In a south westerly direction to the A38 Dunball Roundabout

Statement of reasons for making the Order

a) because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road or b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which Is not attributable to such works.
