What is happening?

SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Adkins Lane, Galton Road and Lightwoods Hill, Smethwick) (Temporary No Waiting or Loading at Any Time Restriction) Order 2024 intends to temporarily prohibit any vehicle from waiting or loading along the following lengths of road in Smethwick: Adkins Lane – both sides – between Lightwoods Hill and Bearwood Road; Galton Road – both sides – between Hagley Road West and Adkins Lane; Lightwoods Hill – both sides – between Adkins Lane and Beechwood Road. The maximum duration is 18 months to 31/03/2026 effective from 01/10/2024. Purpose – no waiting cones will be place on all or some of the specified lengths of roads when events/activities are being held in Lightwoods Park or house which necessitate the implementation of a temporary no waiting restriction to assist with safety issues and traffic flows for Sandwell MBC.

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Friar Park Road, Wednesbury – Buses, Taxis and Cyclsts Only Section) (Temporary One-Way Operation) Order 2024 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles including buses, taxis and cyclists from proceeding in a westerly direction along the buses, taxis and cyclists only section of Friar Park Road. In addition all vehicles will be prohibited from turning right off Crankhall Lane into the buses, taxis and cyclists only section of Friar Park Road. Buses, taxis, and cyclists wishing to enter the closed stretch of road off Friar Park Road to travel in a westerly direction will be diverted via Friar Park Road and Crankhall Lane. Buses, taxis, and cyclists will still be permitted to turn left off Crankhall Lane into and travel east via the buses, taxis, and cyclists only section of Friar Park Road. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 29/09/2024. Purpose – to facilitate work by Cadent Gas Ltd to reinstate the carriageway. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Neptune Street and Poplar Avenue, Tipton) (Temporary Road Closures) (Dudley Road, Tipton) (Temporary One-Way Road Closure) (Birmingham New Road, Tipton) (Temporary Left Turn Filter Lane Closure) (High Street, Tipton) (Temporary No Left Turn Restriction) (Castle Road, Tipton) (Temporary No Right Turn Restriction) and (Vernon Avenue, Tipton) (Temporary No Left Turn Restriction) Order 2024 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along the following roads: Neptune Street, which will be closed at the junction of Dudley Road. Traffic will be diverted via Sedgley Road West, Dudley Road and vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 25/10/2024 effective from 01/10/2024 (24hr). Poplar Avenue, which will be closed at the junction of Dudley Road. Traffic will be diverted via Menin Road, Shrubbery Avenue, Dudley Road and vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 23/10/2024 effective from 16/10/2024 (24hr). Dudley Road, which will be closed one-way in a southerly direction between the junctions of High Street (southern side) and Birmingam New Road. Traffic will be diverted via Sedgley Road West and Birmingham New Road. Birmingham New Road – closure of left turn filter lane to Dudley Road. Traffic will be diverted via Tipton Road (southbound) to the roundabout at Castle Gate Island and Tipton Road (northbound). Vernon Avenue – no left turn restriction to Dudley Road. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 29/11/2024 effective from 01/10/2024 (24hr). High Street – no left turn restriction to Dudley Road. Traffic will be diverted via Dudley Road, Sedgley Road West and Birmingham New Road. Castle Road – no right turn restriction to Dudley Road. Traffic will be diverted via Dudley Road, Sedgley Road West and Birmingham New Road. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 03/11/2024 effective from 01/10/2024 (24hr). Purpose – to facilitate access to excavate and install high voltage cable ducting by Doocey Group on behalf of National Grid Electricity Distribution. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Richard Street South, West Bromwich) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Richard Street South which will be closed from its junction with Barton Street to the south-east border of property No.23. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Barton Street, Richard Street West and vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 03/10/2024 effective from 30/09/2024 (24hrs). Purpose – to facilitate access for connection works by Cadent Gas Ltd. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Richard Street South, West Bromwich) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Richard Street South which will be closed from its junction with Barton Street to the south-east border of property No.23. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Barton Street, Richard Street West and vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 03/10/2024 effective from 30/09/2024 (24hrs). Purpose – to facilitate access for connection works by Cadent Gas Ltd. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Europa Avenue, West Bromwich) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Europa Avenue which will be closed from its junction with St Cuthberts Close to the junction of St Caroline Close. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Europa Avenue. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 02/10/2024 effective from 30/09/2024 (8am - 5pm).
