Smithy Lane - Temporary Prohibition of Traffic For Water Connection Replacement Works
What is happening?

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle or cycle to proceed over that length of C110 Smithy Lane, Scarisbrick from the Eastern boundary of property number 153 to the Western boundary of property number 125.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0800 hours on Saturday 28th September 2024 until 1700 hours on Sunday 29th September 2024 or until completion of the works within this period. Access for cyclists will be maintained by means of a pedestrian walkway through the site, with cyclists being required to dismount.
4. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-
A570 Southport Road, Scarisbrick – B5242 Bescar Brow Lane, Scarisbrick – B5242 Hall Road, Scarisbrick – B5242 Dam Wood Lane, Scarisbrick – B5242 Heatons Bridge Road, Scarisbrick and vice versa.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow water connection replacement works to be carried out by Network Plus on behalf of United Utilities.
