What is happening?

Hampshire County Council Temporary Road Closure & Restriction of Right Turns - Various Roads / Winchester / Winchester Half Marathon / 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Hampshire County Council has made an order under Section 16(A) of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984 to allow the Winchester Half Marathon to take place on the Sunday 22nd September 2024.

ROADS TO BE CLOSED: those parts of the following roads:

1) The Broadway between its junction with Buskett Lane and its junction with Colebrook Street. Estimated Time 06:00 - 15:00.

2) High Street between its junction with Colebrook Street and its junction with Market Lane. Estimated Time 06:00 - 15:00.

3) Market Lane for its entire length. Estimated Time 08:30 - 10:00.

4) Market Street for its entire length. Estimated Time 08:30 - 10:00.

5) The Square for its entire length. Estimated Time 08:30 - 10:00.

6) Great Minster Street for its entire length. Estimated Time 08:30 - 10:00.

7) Symonds Street for its entire length. Estimated Time 08:30 - 10:00.

8) St Swithuns Street for its entire length. Estimated Time 08:30 - 10:00.

9) St James Lane for its entire length. Estimated Time 08:30 - 10:00.

10) St Thomas Street between its junction with St Swithun Street and its junction with Kings Head Yard. Estimated Time 08:30 - 10:00.

11) Romsey Road between its junction with St James Lane and its junction with Sarum Road. Estimated Time 08:30 - 10:00.

12) Sarum Road between its junction with Romsey Road and its junction with Chilbolton Avenue. Estimated Time 08:30 - 10:00.

13) Chilbolton Avenue from its junction with Sarum Road. Estimated Time 08:30 - 10:00.

14) Stanmore Lane between its junction with Romsey Road and its junction with St Cross Road. Estimated Time 08:30 - 10:00.

15) Lower Stanmore Lane between its junction with Drummond Road and its junction with St Cross Road. Estimated Time 09:00 - 12:00.

16) Port Lane for its entire length. Estimated Time 09:00 - 12:00.

17) St Cross Road between its junction with Badger Farm Lane and its junction with Lower Stanmore Lane. Estimated Time 09:00 - 12:00.

RESTRICTION OF RIGHT-HAND TURNS – To impose No Right Turns on the following road:

West Hill, Winchester, the Right turn onto Romsey Road will be restricted for the duration of the event. Estimated time 08:30 - 10:00.

Queens Road, Winchester, the Right turn onto Romsey Road will be restricted for the duration of the event. Estimated time 08:30 - 10:00.

Kings Road, Winchester, the Right turn onto Romsey Road will be restricted for the duration of the event. Estimated time 08:30 - 10:30.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES:

1) N/A

DURATION OF ORDER: on Sunday 22nd September 2024 between the hours 05:30 - 16:00 for 1 day or until the event has ended, whichever is sooner. Reasonable facilities will be provided to allow access to adjacent premises while the work is being carried out.

The Restrictions have been granted by Hampshire County Council to facilitate works for Challenging Events to carry out Winchester Half Marathon. Challenging Events will provide reasonable facilities to allow access to adjacent premises and provide notice to those directly affected while the event is being carried out.
