NOTICE OF MAKING
Albany Rd, Amethyst Ave, Barberry Ave, Beechwood Ave, Bracken Lea, Courtfield Ave, Crescent Way, Gladstone Rd, Grange Hill, Hunter’s Way West, King Edward Rd, Lawn Cl, Limetree Cl, Lynton Dr, Mill Lane, Palmerston Rd, Peacock Rise, Princes Ave, Purbeck Rd, Settington Ave, Seymour Rd, Shipwright’s Ave, Star Mill Lane, Street End Rd, Thorold Rd, West Dr, Whitehorse Hill
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Medway Council on 17 September 2024 made the above-mentioned Order under sections 1, 2, 4 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended. The general effect of the Amendment Order, which comes into operation on 23 September 2024 will be to introduce lengths of ‘No waiting at any time’ (double yellow lines) in the roads below within Chatham:
a) Albany Road – South-east side, 9.5m north-eastwards and 4.5m south-westwards of Lawn Close junction;
b) Amethyst Avenue – South side, 13.5m west and 14m east of the junction of Barberry Ave;
c) Barberry Avenue – (a) West side, 11.5m southwards from Amethyst Ave, (b) East side, 12.5m southwards from Amethyst Ave;
d) Beechwood Avenue – (a) North-west side, 10.5m outside No.78 (approx. 1.5m over No.76), (b) South-west side, 6.8m opposite No.78 into Hunter’s Way West, (c) North-east side, 15.2m on the corner by No.67 into Hunter’s Way West;
e) Bracken Lea – North-west side, 4.8m south-westwards from the junction of Mill Lane;
f) Courtfield Ave – West side, (a) 14.8m northwards from Lynton Drive junction, outside No.78, (b) 14.2m southwards from Lynton Drive junction, outside No.80;
g) Crescent Way – (a) North-west side, 11.8m south-westwards from the junction of West Drive, (b) South-west side, 29.5m approximately outside Nos.38-46, (c) South-east side, from opposite the side of No.21 West Drive, south-westwards and north-eastwards to the pathway opposite No.47 Crescent Way, (d) North side, 12.7m alongside No.47, (e) East side, 8m outside No.47, (f) South- west side, a 37m length from the existing restrictions west of Barberry Avenue junction up to the driveway of No.48;
h) Gladstone Road – (a) North-east side, 2m north-westwards and 6.7m south-eastwards from King Edward Rd junction, (b) South-east side, 4.3m north-westwards and 7.5m south-eastwards from Purbeck Rd junction;
i) Grange Hill – (a) North-west side, 5m north-eastwards from Thorold Rd junction, (b) South-east side, 8.5m north-eastwards from Thorold Rd junction (to clear TURN RIGHT);
j) Hunter’s Way West – South-west side, 14.5m in front of the access to Kingsway, north-westwards from No.6;
k) King Edward Road – (a) North-west side, 3.1m north-eastwards of Gladstone Road junction, (b) South-east side, 3.7m north-eastwards of Gladstone Road junction;
l) Lawn Close – (a) South-west side, 9.6m south-eastwards from Albany Road junction, (b) North-west side, 9 metres south-eastwards from Albany Road junction;
m) Limetree Close – (a) North-east side, 11.2m outside Nos.29-31, (b) South-east side, 4m outside
No.33, (c) South-west side, 12.8m from the parking area to outside No.32;
n) Lynton Drive – (a) North side, 10m westwards from Courtfield Ave junction, (b) South side, 9.3m westwards from Courtfield Ave junction, (c) North side, 6m westwards and 7m eastwards from Lynton Drive (junction by No.1), (d) South side, 7m westwards and 7.2m eastwards from Lynton Drive (junction by No.2), (e) Both sides of the road to the side of No.1, northwards for 7.5m, (f) East side of the road at the side of No.2, southwards for 7.5m, (g) West side of the road at the rear of No.631 Lordswood Lane, southwards for 3.7m;
o) Mill Lane – South-west and north-west sides, 72.5m from the junction of Street End Road to the junction with Bracken Lea;
p) Palmerston Road – East side, from 7.5m north of the vehicle access to Amherst Court to a point 7.5m south of the vehicle access to Thorndike House, including the section in between;
q) Peacock Rise – (a) North and East sides, from Princes Ave junction westwards and northwards for 45.5m, (b) South side, 10.2m westwards from Princes Ave junction, (c) South and west sides, 8.6m across the access to the rear of Nos.155-163 Princes Avenue, extending 2.8m northwards at the dead end;
r) Princes Avenue – North-west side, 7.6m north-eastwards and 13.7m south-westwards from the junction of Peacock Rise;
s) Purbeck Road – (a) West side, 4.5m southwards from Gladstone Rd junction, (b) East side, 3.7m southwards from Gladstone Rd junction;
t) Settington Avenue – South-west side, 17.4m on the bend by No.26 between the dropped kerbs of Nos.24 & 26;
u) Seymour Road – (a) North-east side, 5.5m north-westwards from Whitehorse Hill, (b) South-west side, 5.8m north-westwards from Whitehorse Hill;
v) Shipwright’s Avenue – (b) North side, 9.2m west of the junction with the access road to the rear of Castle Rd, extending 7.8m up to the gates, (b) North side, 8m east of the junction with the access road to the rear of Castle Rd, extending 10m up to the gates;
w) Star Mill Lane – This changes the side of the road for parking, keeping the main footway clear: (a) North-west side, from the side of No.34 south-westwards for 81.4m (to the end of the public highway), (b) South-east side, (i) from between Nos.1 & 2 Star Mill Court south-westwards for 10.3m, (ii) from 30m south-westwards of Star Mill Court, south-westwards for 5m (reservoir point access), (iii) 11m north-eastwards and 5.4m south-westwards from the parking area at the side of No.1 Heathland View;
x) Street End Road – South-east side, 13.8m south-westwards from Mill Lane junction;
y) Thorold Road – North-east side, 3.5m north-westwards from Grange Hill junction;
z) West Drive – South-west side, 9.8m north-westwards from Crescent Way, corner by No.12; aa) Whitehorse Hill – North-west side, 3m north-eastwards and 3m south-westwards from the junction of Seymour Rd.
Copies of the Order and of other documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order can be requested by sending an email to parkingdesign@medway.gov.uk or by writing to Parking Design team, Medway Council, Gun Wharf, Dock Road, Chatham, Kent, ME4 4TR before the end of a period of six weeks from the date on which the Order was made.
Persons wishing to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the 1984 Act, or that any requirement of the Act or any instrument made under the Act has not been complied with, that person may, within six weeks from the above date on which the Order was made, apply for the purpose to the High Court.
