4. A zebra crossing across Lantern Lane approximately 16 metres southwest of the north-eastern kerbline of Sharpley Drive. The crossing will incorporate a controlled area by extending the existing raised plateau, indicated by zig-zag markings along the carriageway where parking, stopping and loading will be prohibited. The extents of the controlled areas are:-

a. Lantern Lane, East Leake (north side)
From a point 37 metres southwest of the north-eastern kerbline of Sharpley Drive in a north-easterly direction for 29 metres.

b. Lantern Lane, East Leake (south side)
From a point opposite a point 37 metres southwest of the north-eastern kerbline of Sharpley Drive in a north-easterly direction for 42 metres.

The crossing is being installed to assist pedestrians in crossing the road, especially school children. The new zig-zag lines on the road will replace the existing school keep clear marking, which currently prohibits stopping on Monday to Friday between 8 am and 4.30 pm. In addition the scheme includes extending the existing raised plateau 75 mm high 3 metres in a south-westerly direction.

The proposed parking restrictions will help to keep the road outside the school clear of vehicles during the school day making it safer for pupils attending the school, whilst also helping to to improve conditions for buses accessing/egressing the school site.
