Westlea Road, Seaham - Temporary Road Closure

What is happening?

The County Council of Durham
(B1285 Westlea Road, Seaham)
(Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024


The Council on 9/9/2024 made the above Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, as amended Section 14(1) to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on a 572 metre length of B1285 Westlea Road that extends northwards from its junction with The Avenue, Seaham to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be undertaken. It will also be necessary to suspend the 7.5t weight restriction on B1404 Station Road during the closure. An alternative route will be available to vehicular traffic from the southern side of the closure from B1285 north easterly via The Graham Way and continuing north westerly on New Strangford Road and Station Road to the northern side of the closure, and vice versa. The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The works are expected to commence from 7am on 16/9/2024 and are anticipated to be completed in 6 days. On occasions, alternative dates for closure may be necessary and these will be signed accordingly.
