What is happening?

EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

The East Sussex (Public Footpath Hastings 153 (part)) (Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2024

To protect public safety following a landslip, the Secretary of State has extended the above East Sussex County Council’s Order made on 8 March 2024 under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following footpath:

Temporary Footpath Closure

Part of Public Footpath Hastings 153 will be closed between TQ 8038 1208 (Old Roar Road) and TQ 8048 1198 (footpath leading to Foxcote). Unfortunately, there is no alternative route.

The Order is made following the issuing of a Temporary Notice under the relevant sections of the Road Traffic Act 1984, as amended.

The closure will be in force for 18 months from 18 September 2024, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier, which after this period will require an extension from the Secretary of State, should the footpath still be unavailable to use.

The East Sussex (U6202 Freckley Hollow, Catsfield) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Freckley Hollow – from the junction with U7699 Skinners Lane to the junction with A271 Kitchenham Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A271 Kitchenham Road – B2204 Tellis Coppice, Horns Corner, The Green – U7699 Skinners Lane and vice versa.

The Order commences 2 October 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 2 October 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U3144 Warrior Square, St Leonards-on-Sea) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow Sunbelt Rentals Ltd to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Warrior Square – from the junction with U3144 Warrior Gardens to the junction with U3144 Terrace Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U3144 Warrior Gardens, Warrior Square, Terrace Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 2 October 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 2 October 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U6968 Watermill Lane, Pett) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024 No.2

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Watermill Lane – from the junction with C23 Pett Road to the junction with A259(T) Main Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C23 Pett Road – U6418 Pannel Lane, Hog Hill – U6966 Windmill Lane – U6967 Laurel Lane – A259(T) Main Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 30 September 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 30 September 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C19 Castle Road, Bodiam) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024 No.2

To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Castle Road – from the junction with B2244 Hawkhurst Road to the junction with C308 Peters Green Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2244 Hawkhurst Road – B2244 Hastings Road (KCC), Conghurst Lane (KCC) – A268 Rye Road, Megrims Hill, Sharps Hill – A268 Queen Street (KCC), Bodiam Road (KCC) – C308 Peters Green Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 3 October 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 3 October 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U6208 Sandhurst Lane, Bexhill) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow UKPN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Sandhurst Lane – from the junction with U6207 Coneyburrow Lane to Kloofs Camping and Caravan Park.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U6208 Sandhurst Lane – C346 Whydown Road, Straight Lane – B2095 Top Road – C706 Denbigh Road, Broad Street Green, Green Lane – A259(T) Barnhorn Road – U6207 Coneyburrow Lane and vice versa.

The Order commences 30 September 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 30 September 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Pett Level Road – from the junction with P6789 Victoria Way to the junction with C23 Chick Hill. A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C23 Chick Hill, Pett Road, Friars Hill – A259(T) White Hart Hill, Winchelsea Road, Rye Road, The Thorne, Main Road, Hastings Road, Rectory Lane, Roberts Hill, Ferry Hill, Tanyard Lane – C92 Sea Road, Pett Level Road and vice versa, and an HGV Diversion via C92 Pett Level Road, Battery Hill, Fairlight Road – A259 Old London Road, Rye Road – A259(T) Winchelsea Road, White Hart Hill, Winchelsea Road, Rye Road, The Thorne, Main Road, Hastings Road, Rectory Lane, Roberts Hill, Ferry Hill, Tanyard Lane – C92 Sea Road, Pett Level Road and vice versa.

The East Sussex (U6955 Sprays Lane, Westfield) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow Southern Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Sprays Lane – from the junction of C22 Wheel Lane to the junction with U6629 Parsonage Lane. A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C22 Wheel Lane – U6629 Parsonage Lane and vice versa.

The Order commences 16 September 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 16 and 18 September 2024 depending upon the weather conditions. The East Sussex (U6708 St Marys Lane, Bexhill) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

St Marys Lane – from the junction with A269 Ninfield Road to the junction with U6709 The Ridings.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U6708 St Marys Lane – C346 Turkey Road – U6711 Southlands Road – A269 Ninfield Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 16 September 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 16 September 2024 and between 23 and 25 September 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U3158 Edward Road, St Leonards-on-Sea) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow Southern Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Edward Road – from the junction with U3157 Church Road to the junction with U3159 Magdalen Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U3157 Church Road – U3158 St Johns Road – U3159 Magdalen Road and vice versa. The Order commences 16 September 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 16 September 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.
