What is happening?
THE SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL
Holmbury Road (D276) Ewhurst Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024
On 11 September 2024 Surrey County Council made the abovementioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Holmbury Road (D276) Ewhurst which extends from its junction with Radnor Road (D276) to the northeastern property access road to “Holmbury House”.
Alternative Route – Holmbury Hill Road (D280), Pitland Street (D280), Horsham Road (B2126), Miles Hill (B2126), Holmbury Lane (B2126), Ockley Road (B2127) and Holmbury Hill Road (D280) or the same route in reverse.
This Order is required to allow BT Openreach to carry out telecom works, which is anticipated to be completed within 4 days, between 9:30am and 3:00pm, during the 12 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 16 September 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for emergency vehicles, residents, pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times. All other vehicular traffic will be required to use the signed diversion route.
Potters Lane (D233) Send Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024
On 11 September 2024 Surrey County Council made the abovementioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Potters Lane (D233) Send which extends from the northeastern property boundary line of “31 Potters Lane” to the southeastern property boundary line of “41 Potters Lane”.
Alternative Route – Potters Lane (D233), Send Road (A247), Send Barns Lane (A247), London Road (B2215), Woodhill (D234), Vicarage Lane (D234) and Potters Lane (D233) or the same route in reverse. This Order is required to allow Affinity Water to carry out water works, which is anticipated to be completed within 3 days, between 8:00am and 4:00pm, during the 12 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 18 September 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which
is anticipated to be in force 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for emergency vehicles, residents, pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times. All other vehicular traffic will be required to use the signed diversion route.
D70 Grange Road, Ash Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024
Further to the issue of a Notice under Section 14(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) on 11 September 2024 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) either side of “the Act”, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of D70 Grange Road, Ash. This Traffic Order is required to enable VolkerFitzpatrick Limited to carry out highway improvement works associated with the “Ash Road Bridge project” and/or maintenance works. These works are anticipated to be carried out between the hours of 8am and 6pm, within 2 weeks of the 12 month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 16 September 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure which is anticipated to be required for 24 hours each day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.
Access for emergency vehicles, residents, businesses, pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians will be maintained at all times. Alternative route:- Foreman Road and Ash Church Road.
B380 Ash Road, Pirbright – Guildford Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024
On 11 September 2024 Surrey County Council made the abovementioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of B380 Ash Road, Pirbright – Guildford that extends from the eastern side of its junction with D642 Upper Stanford Road, to the western side of its junction with the northwestern access road for “DEFRA Institute for Animal Health”. This Traffic Order is required to enable Rocon Contractors Ltd and/or Concept Facility Management to carry out civil engineering and/or highway improvements and/or associated works. These works are anticipated to be carried out within 12 days of the 12 month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 16 September 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be required for 24 hours each day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians, and dismounted cyclists and equestrians, will be maintained at all times under direction of operatives on site and/or signs. Access for emergency services, residents and businesses will be maintained via the vehicular diversion route:- B3032 Guildford Road and A324 Aldershot Road.
Southdown Road (D3844) Hersham Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024
On 11 September 2024 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Southdown Road (D3844) Hersham as extends from a point in line with the common boundary between No.03 and No.05 Southdown Road to a point in line with the common boundary between No.67 and No.69 Southdown Road. Alternative Route: Southdown Road. This Order is required to facilitate water utility works for, or on behalf of Affinity Water. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 3 days, between the hours of 8am and 4pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 25 September 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and cyclists.
Sandy Lane (D3817) Walton On Thames Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024
Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Sandy Lane (D3817) Walton On Thames as extends from its junction with (A3050) Terrace Road to its junction with (D3816) First Avenue. Alternative Route: First Avenue, Garden Road, and (A3050) Terrace Road, or this route in reverse. This Order is required to facilitate water connection works for, or on behalf of Affinity Water. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 12 days, between the hours of 8am and 6pm within the 12-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 07 October 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians, dismounted cyclists, and dismounted equestrians, will be maintained at all times. Due to the nature of the works, it will not be possible to maintain vehicular access through the closure, and all vehicular traffic, including the emergency services will be required to use the signed diversion route. No sole access will be affected by this closure.
Botany Hill (C22) Seale Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024
Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of Botany Hill (C22) Seale. Alternative Route: Botany Hill (C22) Sands, Crooksbury Road, and Sands Road, or this route in reverse. This Order is required to facilitate pole mounted transformer replacement works for, or on behalf of SSEN. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 1 day, between the hours of 9am and 3pm within the 12-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 08 October 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.
Access for residents, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. All other traffic, including the emergency services will be required to use the signed diversion route. Blackwater Valley Road (Slip Road) (A331) Ash
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.2) 2024 Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned
Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of the northbound slip road classified as the “A331”. Alternative Route: (A323) Aldershot Road, (A331) Blackwater Valley Road, (A31) Runfold Diversion, and (A331) Blackwater Valley Road. This Order is required to facilitate installation of access gates to the ponds for, or on behalf of Surrey County Council. These works are anticipated to be carried out as soon as possible, between the hours of 9am and 5pm within the 18-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 07 October 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner.
Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. Due to the nature of the works, it will not be possible to maintain vehicular access through the closure, and all vehicular traffic, including the emergency services will be required to use the signed diversion route. No sole access will be affected by this closure.
French Lane (D138) Thursley Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024
Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of French Lane (D138) Thursley.
Alternative Route – Rutton Hill Road; Boundless Road; Old Portsmouth Road; and Thursley Junction. The Order is required to allow new mains electrical supply installation and/or any other associated works to be carried out by, or on behalf of Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks within the length of road described in this notice. These works are anticipated to be carried out as soon as possible over 3 days between the hours of 8am and 5pm within the 12-month period of operation of the Temporary Order that commences on 07 October 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for properties within the closure area, pedestrians, and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. Due to the nature of the works, all other traffic including the emergency services will be required to use the signed diversion route.
D3814 Cottimore Lane, Walton-on-Thames Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.2) 2024
Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of D3814 Cottimore Lane, Walton-on-Thames which extends between its junction with A3050 Terrace Road to its junction with Ambleside Avenue. This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to facilitate surface dressing, pre-patching and/or major maintenance works which is anticipated to be completed as soon as possible within the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 1 October 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. In the event that it is necessary to restrict any access at any time under Section 3 of the Act, the road can only be closed for a maximum of 8 hours in any 24-hour period. Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner. Pedestrian access to premises will be maintained at all times.
Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access for emergency service vehicles to these properties, will be maintained when safe to do so and if necessary via the signed diversion route.
Alternative Route – D3825 Ambleside Avenue, D3830 Rydens Road, D3812 Sidney Road and A3050 Terrace Road.

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding Schedules 1 and 2 to this Notice. This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to facilitate surface treatment/dressing works, footway slurry, pre-patching works and/or major maintenance works which is anticipated to be completed as soon as possible within the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 1 October 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. In the event that it is necessary to restrict any access at any time under Section 3 of the Act, the road can only be closed for a maximum of 8 hours in any 24- hour period. Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner. Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times. Public Footpath 353 (Ash)
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024
On 5 September 2024 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned temporary order, the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along Public Footpath 353 Ash from grid ref: 489116 150810 in a North Westerly direction to grid ref: 489060 150831.
The Order is necessary in the interest of public safety due to works being undertaken on or near the highway. The closure will be in operation for a period of ten days from 09 September 2024 or until completion of the works, if earlier. That period can be extended by the Secretary of State for Transport if required.
The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.
The alternative route for traffic from grid ref: 489116 150810 will be to head South East on Public Footpath 353 (Ash) for 108 Metres to Long Acre. Then follow the pavement North, then North West, then generally South to grid ref: 489060 150831.
The alternative route for traffic from grid ref: 489060 150831 will be the reverse of the route described above.

Temporary Prohibition Of Traffic Order 2024
On 12 September 2024 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned temporary order, the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along that length of Public Footpath 63 (Egham) from London Road to Bourneside, Public Footpath 74 (Egham) from Public Footpath 174 (Chobham) to Public Footpath 63 (Egham), Public Footpath 75 (Egham) from Public Footpath 74 (Egham) to Public Footpath 175 (Chobham), Public Footpath 80 (Egham) from the County boundary to Public Footpath 174 (Chobham), Public Footpath 174 (Chobham) from Public Footpath 80 (Egham) to Public Footpath 74 (Egham) and Public Footpath 175 (Chobham) from its southern end to Public Footpath 75 (Egham).
The Order is necessary in the interest of public security and safety due to the PGA golf championship.
The closure will be in operation for a period of 9 days from 15 September 2024 or until completion of the works, if earlier. That period can be extended by the Secretary of State for Transport if required.
The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.
There is no alternative route.

Public Footpath No. 66 (Egham)
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024
The Surrey County Council Public Footpath No. 66 (Egham) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024 was made on the grounds of public safety due to damage to the bridge. The Order came into operation on 18 March 2024. It was due to expire on 18 September 2024 but has now been continued in force by the Secretary of State for Transport until 18 September 2025 or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier.
The Order as continued prohibits all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding in that length of Public Footpath No.66 (Egham) crossing the bridge from Grid ref: 502130 171843 to Grid ref: 502148 181831.
The prohibition described above will only be operative while the County Council, or an authorised person acting on its behalf, displays signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002 (S.I. 2002 No. 3113) prohibiting the said movements.
Access to properties will not be affected.
The alternative route is as follows from Grid ref: 502130 171843 – Head West along Footpath 66 for approximately 300 metres to footpath to Egham 83, head south until you reach the A30 (Windsor Road) and cross at the traffic lights at Runnymede Junction. Head East under the underpass and continue along The Glanty/A308 The Causeway to River Park Avenue. Head North onto footpath 66 Egham then head West for approximately 650 metres to Grid ref: 502148 181831. This route is the opposite in reverse.
