Middle Street - Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic

What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(MIDDLE STREET, LANCASTER, LANCASTER CITY)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle, cycle or pedestrian to proceed over that length of Middle Street, Lancaster from its junction with High Street for a distance of approximately 30 metres towards A6 King Street.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0800 hours until 1700 hours on Tuesday 24th September 2024 or until completion of the works within this period.
4. An alternative route for all traffic affected by the closure is one way via:-
A6 King Street - Market Street – Fenton Street – Middle Street – High Street.
AND FURTHER, during the period of the said closure, the existing one way prohibitions on Middle Street, Lancaster from its junction with the A6 king Street, to its junction with High Street will be temporarily suspended;
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow water connection works to be carried out.
