What is happening?

North Yorkshire Council, Temporary 40 MPH Speed Restriction, Hull Road - Cliffe Bypass, Cliffe, Order 2024 No. 320

We have made this Order to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in excess of 40 mph along Hull Road – Cliffe Bypass, Cliffe for a temporary period between 16/09/24 & 22/09/24, due to Gas replacement works. 40 Mph Speed Limit, A162 & B1222, Sherburn In Elmet, Order 2024 Notice is hereby given that on 06/09/24 The North Yorkshire Council made an Order under Sections 84(1) & (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 & Part IV of Schedule 9 to the 1984 Act, the effect of which is to prohibit any motor vehicle from travelling at a speed in excess of 40 mph on any length of road specified in Part 1 & Part 2 below. Part 1 A162, from the Southern exit of the roundabout with the A162/B1222/Moor Lane, Sherburn in Elmet South for 316m. A162, from the Northern exit of the roundabout with the A162/B1222/Moor Lane, Sherburn in Elmet North for 330m. Part 2 B1222, from the Eastern exit of the roundabout with the A162, Sherburn in Elmet for 2021m. A copy of the Order, which comes into operation on 16/09/24, may be examined at County Hall, Northallerton & at Sherburn & Villages Community Library, Finkle Hill, Sherburn in Elmet, Leeds LS25 6EA during normal office hours from 12/09/24 to 18/10/24 & also viewed online at

If you wish to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained in it, on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act, or of any Instrument made under it, has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may, within 6 weeks of 06/09/24 make application to the High Court for the purpose.
