What is happening?

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council have made an Order to temporarily close the road shown below and to further suspend the one-way system restriction on the road shown below in Berwick-upon-Tweed in the County of Northumberland:-
The Order is to be effective from the 23rd September 2024 until the 7th October 2024. It is expected that the road will only be closed from the 23rd September 2024 until the 27th September 2024 between the hours of 19:00 until 06:00 during this period; however, the order will remain in place until 7th October 2024.
Road Closure:
A road closure will be in place on the U111 West Street Berwick-upon-Tweed from its junction with Marygate heading in a southerly direction for a length of 70 metres in the County of Northumberland.
The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be southbound via Marygate, Eastern Lane, Easter Wynd and West Street exiting on Bridge Street.
Suspension of One-Way System Restriction:
This temporary order will hereby further suspend the one-way system on Eastern Lane, Berwick-upon-Tweed from the Order namely Northumberland County Council The County of Northumberland (Eastern Lane - West Street Link Road, Berwick-upon-Tweed) (One Way Driving, No Entry, No Waiting and Weight Restriction) Order 1987 dated 13th January 1987 and referenced in Article 6 of this Order as follows: -
“6 - No person shall cause or permit any vehicle to enter Eastern Lane from its junction with Marygate”.

The road closure and the suspension of the one-way system restriction have been requested by PMK Civil Engineering on behalf of Scottish Power to supply a new connection. In order to minimise future disruption, other contractors may be undertaking works throughout the duration of this Order.
