The County of Carmarthenshire
(Public Footpath 34/27 (part) Tycroes, Ammanford)
Temporary Prohibition of Pedestrian Traffic Order 2024
NOTICE is hereby given that the Carmarthenshire County Council on the 1st day of September Two Thousand and Twenty Four made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any pedestrian traffic from proceeding along that part of Footpath 34/27 (Part) from a point where it forms a farm track which extends from Pontardulais Road in a general southerly direction and located one hundred and twenty five (125) meters east of Tycroes Business Park, Ammanford for a distance of approximately one thousand and thirty-four (1034) metres in a southeasterly direction to the Class III road which leads to Llandeilo.
The closure is required until works for the construction of a solar farm being carried out on adjoining land have been completed.
The Order came into force on the 11th September 2023 and was due to expire after a period of six months, but the works above described affecting the length of Footpath 34/27 (Part) hereinbefore referred to have not yet been completed therefore the Cabinet Secretary for the Economy, North Wales and Transport, one of the Welsh Ministers, has pursuant under Section 15(5) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 consented to extend the closure, for a second time, by a further period of 6 months. The continuation of the Order, by the said direction, will mean that the Temporary Closure Order will continue in force until and including the 10th March 2025 or until the works are completed whichever is the sooner. Any further extensions will require the consent of the Welsh Ministers.
The Alternative Route from a point north of the closure will be to proceed in a south easterly direction along a permissive route which will be bounded by a fence the westerly section being a strip of land located on the south side of a section of the closed footpath before turning in an easterly and then south westerly direction along the southern side of a triangular field enclosure. The route then continues in a south easterly and then south westerly direction skirting the next field before subsequently returning to the point of closure at the south side of the closed section of the footpath. From this point the alternative route will run parallel to the remainder of the closed section of the Alternative Route to its junction with the Class III Road which leads to Llandeilo at its southern extremity.
