What is happening?
THE BOROUGH OF LUTON
(VARIOUS ROADS)
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES) (No.18) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is hereby given that Luton Borough Council, the Highway Authority for the said Borough, on 9th September 2024 made the above Order under the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).
The Order will come into operation on 4th October 2024 for a period of 18 months or when the proposed works have been completed, whichever is the earlier. Specific dates and times will be signed locally. The Order will therefore be in operation during such date and time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs, barriers or cones.
The effect of the Order will allow the Council to close to vehicular traffic the following roads and lengths of roads:
Swifts Green Road from its junction with Ravenbank Road to its junction with Mount Grace Road. Diversion route via Mount Grace Road, Curlew Road, Ravenbank Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 4th October 2024, 8:30am to 3:30pm.
Hallwicks Road from its junction with Brays Road to its junction with Ashcroft Road. Diversion route via Hallwicks Road, Brays Road, Ashcroft Road, Stopsley Way Roundabout. Anticipated date and times of closure 15th October 2024, 9:30am to 3:30pm.
Swifts Green Close the whole length. Diversion route not available. Anticipated dates and times of closures 15th October 2024 to 17th October 2024, 8am to 6pm.
Dunstable Place from its junction with the Council carpark to its junction with Upper George Street. Diversion route via Stuart Street, Wellington Street, Upper George Street. Anticipated dates and times of closures 21st October 2024 to 22nd October 2024, 9pm to 6am.
The Order is intended to create a window for the works to be done and it is anticipated that the works will be completed over a period as described above. The purpose of the Order is to enable BT Openreach contractors to carry out essential telecom works – telegraph pole replacement and network fibre upgrade. Access will be maintained as best as possible to properties where this may be done safely whilst such works are being carried out and diversions for traffic where available will be marked by signs.
