Cockington Road- Temporary Prohibition Of Use For Overhead Cabling Works
What is happening?
BOROUGH OF TORBAY
(COCKINGTON ROAD, PAIGNTON) (PART) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF USE) ORDER 2024
Notice is hereby given that Torbay Council made the above Order on 4th September 2024 under the provisions of Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect will be to prohibit vehicular traffic in part of Cockington Road, from Cockington Road slip road to Petersfield Farm, Cockington Lane. There are exemptions from the Order for vehicles used in emergency for police, fire or ambulance purposes, or used in connection with the works mentioned below, and for the conveyance of persons, goods, or merchandise to or from any premises situated on or adjacent to that length of road or to or from any other premises accessible for vehicles from, and only from, that length of road.
The Order has been made because overhead cabling works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the above length of road. The alternative route available for traffic which will be affected by the Order is via Preston Down Road, Hellevoetsluis Way, Marldon Road, Shiphay Avenue, Shiphay Lane, Newton Road, Avenue Road, Kings Drive, Torbay Road, Livermead Hill, Underhill Road, Cockington Lane; alternative Cockington Lane, Nut Bush Lane, Drakes Avenue, Upper Cockington Lane, Marldon Road, Hellevoetsluis Way, Preston Down Road. The Order will come into force on 14th October 2024 and will continue in force for a period not exceeding eighteen months or until the above works have been completed, whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that such works will take approximately three days to complete.
