What is happening?

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an order on Thursday, 29 August 2024 in respect of the location numbered (1) and additionally on Thursday, 05 September 2024 in respect of the locations numbered (2), (3), (4), (5), (6), (7) & (8). Furthermore, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the locations numbered, (9) & (10).

(1) CINDER LANE PROW 55/131/10 (CONTINUATION). YORK

This Order, with authorisation from the Secretary of State for Transport, continues in force The York (Cinder Lane PROW 55/131/10) (Temporary Traffic Restriction) Order 2022 (original Order). The effect of which is to continue in force the prohibition on vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of footpath on Cinder Lane PROW 55/131 /10, York between its junction with Leeman Road and a location 390 metres southwest of said junction (closed footpath) during the period commencing at 0001 hours on Sunday, 01 September 2024 and ending at 2359 hours on Saturday, 30 November 2024 (works period) or on a date when York Central Development works being undertaken thereon have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians & cyclists will be signed during the works period.

(2) OXFORD STREET. YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Oxford Street, York between locations 27 metres and 35 metres north-west of its junction with Holgate Road (closed road) during the period when building development works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Friday, 06 September 2024 and ending at 0800hrs on Friday, 07 March 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period.

(3) CHURCH LANE. BISHOPTHORPE

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Church Lane, Bishopthorpe between the projected south-western boundary of property No.38 and the projected north-eastern boundary of property No. 40 (closed road) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Saturday, 07 September 2024 and ending at 1600hrs on Saturday, 07 September 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Sim Balk Lane, Main Street, Bishopthorpe Road.

(4) TAMWORTH ROAD. YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Tamworth Road, York between its roundabout controlled junction with Water Lane and a location 20 metres south-east of said junction (closed road) during the period when sewer maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Monday, 09 September 2024 and ending at 1530hrs on Monday, 09 September 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Arlington Road, Water Lane.

(5) BRADLEY LANE. RUFFORTH

This Order prohibits vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Bradley Lane, Rufforth between locations 180 metres and 400 metres south-west of its junction with Southfield Close with Queen Staith Road and Queens Staith From Skeldergate To Bridge Street (closed road) during the period when drainage works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 09 September 2024 and ending at 1600hrs on Friday, 27 September 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via B1224 (Wetherby Road), A1237 (York Outer Ring Road), Askham Fields Lane, York Road, School Lane.

(6) BOOTHAM LEVEL CROSSING. YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding through the Bootham Level Crossing on Wigginton Road, York (closed road) during the period when railway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2330hrs on Tuesday, 10 September 2024 and ending at 0600hrs on Wednesday, 11 September 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Wigginton Road, A1237, Haxby Road, Link Road.

(7) MUSEUM STREET SLIP ROAD. YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Museum Street Slip Road, York between the south-eastern entrance to Museum Gardens and a location 47 metres south-west of said entrance (closed road) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0930hrs on Wednesday, 11 September 2024 and ending at 1600hrs on Thursday, 03 October 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0930hrs and 1600hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be not signed during the works period.

(8) COFFEE YARD. LUNDS COURT. FOOTPATH PETER LANE FROM ADJACENT NUMBER S PETER LANE TO ADJACENT NUMBER 8 HIGH OUSEGATE. PETER LANE. NETHER HORNPOT LANE & FINKLE STREET. YORK

This Order prohibits pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of footpath on Coffee Yard, Lunds Court, Footpath Peter Lane From Adjacent Number 5 Peter Lane To Adjacent Number 8 High Ousegate (also known as Pope's Head Alley), Peter Lane (also known as Le Kyrk Lane), Nether Hompot Lane & Finkle Street, York (i) on Coffee Yard between its junction with Stonegate and Grape Lane and (ii) on Lunds Court between its junctions with Swinegate and Low Petergate and (iii) on Footpath Peter Lane From Adjacent Number 5 Peter Lane To Adjacent Number 8 High Ousegate between its junction with High Ousegate and a location 35 metres and (iv) on Peter Lane between its junction with High Ousegate and a location 35 metres north-west of said junction and (v) on Peter Lane between its junction with High Ousegate and a location 36 metres north-west of said junction and (vi) on Nether Hornpot Lane between its junctions with St Sampsons Square and Back Swinegate and (vii) on Finkle Street between its junctions with St Sampsons Square and Back Swinegate (closed footpaths) during the period when lighting and cleaning works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0600hrs on Thursday, 12 September 2024 and ending at 2300hrs on Friday, 20 September 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Bridge Street, Clifford Street, Tower Street, Paragon Street, Fawcett Street, Skeldergate Bridge.

(9) MAIN STREET. HESLINGTON

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Main Street, Heslington between the projected south-eastern boundaries of the property named Bank House and property No. 3 Memorial Cottages (closed road) during the period when sewer maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Saturday, 14 September 2024 and ending at 2000hrs on Sunday, 15 September 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Access will be maintained for residents. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Low Lane, School Lane, Field Lane.

(10) BACK LANE BETWEEN ALDRETH GROVE AND CAMERON GROVE. YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Back Lane Between Aldreth Grove And Cameron Grove, York between its junction Cameron Grove and a location 23 metres north of said junction (closed road) during the period when power grid works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 16 September 2024 and ending at 1600hrs on Sunday, 22 September 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Aldreth Grove, Bishopthorpe Road, Cameron Grove.

The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by ongoing works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
