ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

The East Sussex (U5293 Norton Road, Newhaven) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Norton Road – for its full extent.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.

The Order commences 8 September 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 8 September 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U5402 Hythe Crescent, Seaford) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Hythe Crescent – from the junction with U5404 Walmer Road to the junction with U5402 Dymock Close.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U5402 Hythe Crescent – U5404 Walmer Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 9 September 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 9 and 13 September 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U7404 Knowle Lane, Halland) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Knowle Lane – from the junction with A22 Eastbourne Road to the junction with B2192 Lewes Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A22 Eastbourne Road – B2192 Lewes Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 10 September 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 10 September 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U5502 Highlands Road, Seaford) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow SGN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Highlands Road – from the junction with A259 Sutton Park Road to the junction with U5502 Cornfield Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A259 Sutton Park Road, Sutton Road – U5502 Middle Furlong, Cornfield Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 7 September 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 7 and 16 September 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C39 Station Road, Berwick) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2023

To allow Network Rail to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Station Road – from the junction with P9103 Cornford Crescent to the junction with P8574 Washere Close.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C39 Station Road – C347 Lower Wick Street – C207 Langtye Lane, The Street – A27(T) – C340 Common Lane – C39 Station Road and vice versa.

The Order commenced 16 December 2023 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 9 and 11 September 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C11 Hadlow Down Road, Crowborough) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

No.2 To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Hadlow Down Road – from the junction with U7578 Steep Road to the junction with C483 Fordbrook Hill.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C483 Fordbrook Hill, Burnt Oak Road, Alice Bright Lane – C11 Fermor Road, Walshes Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 9 September 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 9 and 11 September 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C59 London Road, East Hoathly) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

London Road – from the junction with C13 High Street to the junction with A22 East Hoathly bypass.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C13 High Street, South Street – A22 East Hoathly bypass and vice versa.

The Order commences 9 September 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 9 and 13 September 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (B2100 Station Road, Rotherfield) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024 No.2

To allow Southern Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Station Road – from the junction with B2101 South Street to the junction with Chant Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2100 Catts Hill – A267 Mayfield Road, Tunbridge Wells Road, Argos Hill – B2101 Bicycle Arms Road, High Cross, Mayfield Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 9 September 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken from 20:00hrs to 06:00hrs on 9 and 10 September 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U5820 Springfield Avenue, Telscombe Cliffs) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Springfield Avenue – from the junction with U5820 Highview Road to the junction with U5821 Broomfield Avenue.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U5821 Broomfield Avenue – U5820 Amhurst Road, Highview Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 9 September 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 9 and 20 September 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U5685 Newick Drive, Newick) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Newick Drive – from the junction with P5865 Springfields to the junction with U5685 Paynters Way.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A272 Western Road, High Street – C8 The Green, Church Road – U5685 Oldaker Road, Paynters Way and vice versa.

The Order commences 9 September 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 9 September 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C344 Stunts Green, Herstmonceux) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024 No.2

To allow UKPN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Stunts Green – from the junction with C1072 Chilsham Lane to the junction with C344 West End.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C344 Stunts Green – C15 Cowbeech Hill, Featherbed Lane – A271 Amberstone, New Road, Hailsham Road – C344 West End and vice versa.

The Order commences 9 September 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 9 and 13 September 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U7669 Hawkhurst Lane, Waldron) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Hawkhurst Lane – from the junction with U7405 Hollow Lane to the junction with C13 Moat Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C13 Moat Lane, Scallows Lane – U7027 Laundry Lane and vice versa.

The Order commenced 28 May 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 11 and 13 September 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C321 Fletching Lane, Newick) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Fletching Lane – from the junction with C321 Lane End Common to the junction with C321 Newick Hill.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C321 Newick Hill – A272 Western Road, Station Road – A275 East Grinstead Road – C321 Lane End Common and vice versa.

The Order commences 12 September 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 12 September 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C496 Bell Lane, Splaynes Green, Fletching) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow ESP Electricity Limited to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Bell Lane – from the junction with C206 North Hall Lane to the junction with C496 Witches Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C206 North Hall Lane – C496 Witches Lane and vice versa.

The Order commences 23 September 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 23 September and 4 October 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U5147 Albion Street, Lewes) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Albion Street – from the junction with A277 High Street to the junction with A2029 East Street.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A277 High Street – A2029 Market Street, North Street, Little East Street, Eastgate Street, East Street.

The Order commences 25 September 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 25 and 27 September 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C483 Burnt Oak Road, Crowborough) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C483 Alice Bright Lane – C11 Fermor Road, Walshes Road, Hadlow Down Road – C483 Fordbrook Hill and vice versa.

The Order commences 23 September 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 23 and 25 September 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U5653 Cornwells Bank & U5655 Ridgelands Lane, Newick) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following lengths of road;

Temporary Road Closures

Cornwells Bank – from the junction with U5655 Font Hill to the junction with P5718 Cockfield Lane.

Diversion via U5655 Font Hill – C8 Church Road – U5004 Allington Road – A272 Western Road – C651 Oxbottom Lane – U5653 Cornwells Bank and vice versa.

Ridgelands Lane – from the junction with U5653 Cornwells Bank to Ridgelands Farm.

Diversion via U5655 Ridgelands Lane – U5654 Markstakes Lane – A275 Chailey Green Road – C651 Cinder Hill – U5653 Cornwells Bank and vice versa.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with alternative routes for through traffic as set out above.

The Order commences 26 September 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 26 September 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C411 Station Road/Downash Road, Hailsham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Station Road/Downash Road – from the junction with U797 Butts Field to Swan Barn Caravan Park.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via:

1.   C411 Station Road – A295 George Street, South Road – B2104 Ersham Road – C411 Saltmarsh Lane, Downash Road and vice versa; or

2.   C718 Old Swan Lane, Mill Road, Market Street, Market Square – A295 George Street – C411 Station Road; or

3.   C411 Station Road – A295 George Street, North Street, High Street – C718 Market Square, Market Street, Mill Road, Old Swan Lane.

The Order commences 21 September 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 21 and 27 September 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984, ROAD TRAFFIC ACT 1991 & TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT ACT 2004

The East Sussex (Lewes)(Parking Places, Waiting, No Stopping and Loading Restrictions) Traffic Regulation Order 2020 Experimental Traffic Regulation Order 2024 (Southover School Street, Lewes)

Notice is hereby given that East Sussex County Council have made an Experimental Order on 30 August 2024, coming into operation on 13 September 2024 under Sections 9, 10(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, and of all other enabling powers, for a period not exceeding 18 months which will experimentally introduce the following restriction:

Experimental Prohibition of Vehicles

Monday - Friday

Between the hours of 8.20am and 8.50am and between the hours of 3.00pm and 3.30 pm

Cleve Terrace - its entire length

Potters Lane - its entire length

The Course - its entire length

The purpose of this Order is to facilitate a Safer School Street scheme at Southover Primary School. A copy of the Experimental Order, plans showing the lengths of road and a statement of the Council’s reason for making the Order, may be examined in Reception, East Sussex County Council, County Hall, St Anne’s Crescent, Lewes BN7 1UE Monday to Friday between 9am and 4pm and online at; https://consultation.eastsussex.gov.uk/economy-transport-environment/schoolstreets-scheme-southover-ce-primary-lewes  East Sussex County Council will be considering in due course whether the provisions should be continued in force indefinitely by means of an Order under Sections 1(1), 2(1) to (4), 3(2), 4(2), 32, 35(1) and (3), 45, 49, 51, 52, 53 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Any person wishing to make an objection or other representation concerning this Experimental Order being continued must do so in writing, together with the grounds on which it is made, to Communities, Economy & Transport, Parking Services, B Floor, East Sussex County Council, County Hall, St. Anne’s Crescent, Lewes, East Sussex BN7 1UE or email tros@eastsussex.gov.uk by 13 March 2025 quoting ref ETRO/501 (or if the Order is subsequently varied or modified by an Order made under Section 9, 10(1) or 10(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, six months from the date of coming into operation of such variation or modification).

Any person wishing to question the validity of the Experimental Order or of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the grounds that any requirement of the Act or any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order may within six weeks of the date the Order is made, apply to the High Court for this purpose.
