What is happening?
SROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 16A
SOUTH TYNESIDE BOROUGH COUNCIL
(STC FIREWORK DISPLAY) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that South Tyneside Borough Council pursuant to arrangements made under Section 101 of the Local Government Act 1972 propose to make an Order in exercise of its powers under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The Order is required to enable the STC Firework Display (“the Event”) to take place safely and to better manage the flow of traffic. The effect of the Order, which will come into force at 06:00 on Sunday 03 November 2024 is to:
i. Prohibit any vehicle to turn right from the junctions set out in Part I of the Schedule to this Notice.
ii. Prohibit any vehicle to turn left from the junctions set out in Part II of the Schedule to this Notice.
iii. Prohibit any vehicle from disregarding the temporary one-way system set out in Part III of the Schedule to this Notice.
The alternative route for vehicles during the closure will be via the existing road systems in the vicinity of the affected highways and will be indicated by diversion signs. Exemptions in the Order permit the use of the said
highways by: -
i. Emergency service vehicles on emergency call.
ii. Authorised vehicles officiating in the Event.
The prohibitions will be in operation at such times as appropriate traffic signs are in place.

PART III - TEMPORARY ONE-WAY SYSTEM
1. Beach Road, South Shields from its junction with Bents Park Road to its junction with A183 Sea Road / A183 Beach Road.
