A1 Trunk Road Junction 71 To Junction 73 - Temporary Prohibition of Traffic For Replacement of Lighting Columns Works
What is happening?
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14
THE A1 TRUNK ROAD (JUNCTION 71 TO JUNCTION 73)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A1 Trunk Road, in the District of Gateshead, to enable replacement of lighting columns works to be carried out in safety.
The works are expected to start on Monday 30 September 2024 for 25 nights, or until completed, and will take place between 8pm and 6am.
The effect of the Order will be to close, at times during the works, the A1:
(i) northbound exit slip road at Junction 71 (Metro Centre Interchange);
(ii) southbound entry slip road at Junction 71;
(iii) northbound exit road at Junction 73 (Derwenthaugh Interchange); and
(iv) southbound entry road at Junction 73
During the closures suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times.
Traffic signs will indicate the extent of the prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used for winter maintenance or vehicles being used for traffic officer purposes).
The Order comes into force on 29 September 2024 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
THE A1 TRUNK ROAD (BLAYDON BRIDGE)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the A1 Trunk Road, in the County of Tyne and Wear, to enable survey works to be carried out in safety.
The works are expected to start on Monday 9 September 2024 for 4 weeks or until completed.
The effect of the Order will be, between 8pm and 6am, at times during the works, to close the A1:
(i) northbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Junction 73 to the entry slip road at Junction 74, a distance of 2435 metres;
(ii) southbound carriageway from the entry slip road at Junction 74 to the exit slip road at Junction 73, a distance of 2315 metres;
(iii) northbound entry slip road at Junction 73.
During the closures suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times.
