Oxford, Road Closures & Traffic Restrictions Due To Oxford Half Marathon

(MOTIV SPORTS UK LIMITED OXFORD HALF MARATHON) (SPECIAL EVENT) ORDER 2024

NOTICE is given that Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the above order under section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. This order is made to facilitate the holding of the event which is organised by Motiv Sports UK Limited, Batterwharf Waterfront House, 59 Church Street, Rickmansworth, WD3 1JQ (or roads@usedeventsupport.com). The order brings in traffic measures variously from 08:00 on Saturday 12 October for the event to be clear by Sunday 13 October. With the event starting at 9.30am all barriers and equipment will be cleared during Saturday night and the start/finish areas cleared by 18:00.
There will be road closures in force with means No Access and No Waiting and No Loading/Unloading; One-way traffic changes, restrictions and changes to parking control will be introduced as below: Some traffic changes, all detailed below will be in force and include temporary removal of Law Permit Parking, Pay and Display parking and Disabled Persons Parking Places.

Marshals will be used to assist traffic and runners generally, and specifically at road junctions. Some traffic lights may be deactivated for marshal control. Vehicle access to properties within the route corridor may still be provided if it is safe to do so.
Traffic and alternative routes are to assist southbound via the A4158, Iffley Road, B4495 Donnington Bridge Road, A4144 Abingdon Road, and (2) Northbound from Iffley Road and Cowley Road via The Plain roundabout, A420 St Clements Street, Headington Rd, and St Clements Road via Marston Road, Woodlands Road, and Marston Ferry Road at Vicarage St, Hyde Bridge St, A420 Hollybush Row, Oxpens Rd, Thames St, St Aldates, and vice versa. Exemptions will be made for buses at their timing needs.
Drivers to side roads and between for emergency services, event participants, support vehicles, and authorised vehicles or for services to residents in the roads. Residential access or deliveries may be assisted by marshals.
The Council may modify the measures if this is required by unforeseen circumstances (eg. the arrival of a major emergency). This will be in line with temporary signed traffic management procedures.
