Bridgwater, Multiple Roads, Temporary Traffic Restrictions Due To Gas Works

What is happening?

Somerset Council Various Roads, Bridgwater in the Parish of Bridgwater (Temporary Traffic Restrictions) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that on the 30th day of August 2024 Somerset Council made the above Order in exercise of the provisions of Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as previously advertised on the 20th day of August 2024, to introduce temporary traffic restrictions on the roads specified in the Schedules below. This Order will come into operation on the 3rd day of September 2024 and will remain in force for eighteen months. The Works are to be phased (as signed on site) and expected to commence on the 9th day of September 2024 until the 5th day of February 2025 (between 0800 hours and 1630 hours) to enable Wales and West Utilities to carry out gas replacement works. The restrictions will only apply when indicated by traffic signs. A copy of the draft Traffic Regulation Order and the associated plans can be examined at www.somerset.gov.uk/TRO.

Schedule 1 Temporary Prohibition of Vehicles

Polden Street, Bridgwater (Phase 1) - from the junction with Monmouth Road to the junction with Wellington Road

Polden Street, Bridgwater (Phase 2) - from the junction with Monmouth Road up to and including the junction with Wellington Road Polden Street, Bridgwater (Phase 3) (Lane Closure) - from the junction with Devonshire Street to the junction with Saint John Street Polden Street, Bridgwater (Phase 4) - from the junction with Devonshire Street to the junction with Saint John Street

Devonshire Street, Bridgwater (Phase 3 and 5) -at its junction with Polden Street Wellington Road, Bridgwater (Phase 6) - from the junction with Devonshire Street in a north westerly direction for a distance of 10 metres and in a south easterly direction for a distance of 10 metres

Schedule 2 No Waiting at Any Time Wellington Road, Bridgwater (Phase 2) - at its junction with Polden Street Devonshire Street, Bridgwater (Phase 3) - at its junction with Polden Street Devonshire Street, Bridgwater (Phase 5) - for its entire length (as signed on site in 150 metre sections) Wellington Road (Phase 6) - from the junction with Devonshire Street in a north westerly direction for a distance of 10 metres and in a south easterly direction for a distance of 10 metres

Statement of reasons for making the Order

a) because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road; b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.
