What is happening?

THE CITY OF SUNDERLAND
(ROWAN AVENUE AREA, WASHINGTON)
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2024

Sunderland City Council gives notice that it intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which is to temporarily prohibit all pedestrian traffic from the sections of footways and associated footpaths described in the schedule. The Order is required to allow for maintenance works to the gas maintenance. The order will come into force on 30th September 2024.
The maximum duration of the closure under the Order will be six months. However, it is anticipated that the works will take approximately four months. The closure of each section of footway will be limited to one time only. All pedestrians will be prohibited from the section of footways and footpaths described in the schedule (except for personnel involved in the works), until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. An alternative route will be provided.
Schedule: Rowan Avenue – from the extended southern property boundary of no.12, to the extended northern property boundary of no.24; Rowan Avenue – the entire lengths of footpaths associated with No.29 to no.4; Rowan Avenue – from the extended western property boundary of no.58, to its western extent; Rowan Avenue – the entire lengths of footpaths associated with No.60 to no.80; Rowan Avenue – the entire lengths of footpaths associated with No.80 to no.82; and Rowan Avenue – the entire lengths of footpaths associated with No.94 to no.109
