What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL

(VARIOUS ROADS, VARIOUS PARISHES)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council has

made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the following lengths of road in Central Bedfordshire.

These temporary closures are required to enable various carriageway repair, patching, surfacing, footway, gully and drainage works to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.

The Order will come into operation on 9 September 2024 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

It is expected that the first works will take place at some point between 9 September 2024 and 2 December 2024. Specific dates and times will be signed locally. The roads will be closed at all times during this period.

The effect of the Order will allow the Council to close to vehicular traffic on the following lengths of road:

i.   Lower Harpenden Road, Hyde between West Hyde Road and Viaduct Cottages. The alternative route for this closure is via B653, New Airport Way, A1081, Sun Lane, B653 and vice versa.

ii.  Churchill Road, Dunstable. The alternative route for this closure is via Lowther Road.

iii. Birchside, Dunstable between Seamons Close and number 2. There is no alternative route for this closure.

iv. Toddington Road, Tebworth between Wingfield Road and Chalgrave Road. The alternative route for this closure is via Toddington Road, B5120, A5, Hockliffe Road and vice versa.

v.  Verey Road, Dunstable. The alternative route for this closure is via Eyncourt Road.

vi. The Green, Whipsnade between Dagnall Road and Whipsnade Zoo Car Park. The alternative route for this closure is via Dagnall Road, B489, B4541, B4540 and vice versa.

vii. Church Road, Barton-le-Clay. There is no alternative route for this closure.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL

(CHAUL END VILLAGE, CADDINGTON AND CADDINGTON: FOOTPATH NO 5)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any pedestrian and vehicular use, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Chaul End Village, Caddington between Chiltern Cedars and end of cul-de-sac and Footpath No 5, Caddington.

This temporary closure is required to enable water mains renewal works to take place in safety and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.

It is expected that the works will take place from 23 September to 1 November 2024. The road and footpath will be closed at all times during this period.

There is no alternative route for this closure.

The Order will come into operation on 23 September 2024 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL

(SUNDON ROAD, CHALTON)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Sundon Road, Chalton approximately 20 metres either side of the bridge.

This temporary closure is required to enable bridge examination works to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.

It is expected that the works will take place from 21 to 22 September 2024 between the hours of 11pm and 8am. The road will be closed at all times during this period.

The alternative route for this closure is via Sundon Park Road, B579, Waller Avenue, Oakley Road, Grange Avenue, Toddington Road, Luton Road, Sundon Road and vice versa. The Order will come into operation on 21 September 2024 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL – NOTICE OF MAKING

MANCROFT ROAD, CADDINGTON

DISABLED PARKING BAY

On 27th August 2024 Central Bedfordshire Council made the below named Traffic Regulation Order which has the effect as follows:-

To introduce Parking for Disabled Badge Holders only on the following lengths of road in Caddington:-

1. Mancroft  Road, west side, from a point in line with the common property boundary between No. 36 and No. 38 Mancroft Road and extending in a northerly direction, covering an area approximately 6.6 metres in length and 2.2 metres in width.

Order Title:- Central Bedfordshire Council (Bedfordshire County Council (District of South Bedfordshire) (Civil Enforcement Area and Special Enforcement Area) (Waiting Restrictions and Street Parking Places) (Consolidation) Order 2008) (Variation No.30) Order 2024

Date of Operation:- The Order will come into operation on the 11th September 2024. Details will be provided on request by e-mailing highways.consultation@centralbedfordshire. gov.uk.

High Court Challenge:- Any person who desires to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained therein on the ground that it is not within the powers of the relevant Section of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the ground that any requirement of that Section had not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within six weeks of 27th August 2024, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
