What is happening?
HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:
(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS IN ST ALBANS) ORDER NO.2 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads ("the Roads"):-
1. that length of Holyrood Crescent, St Albans from its junction with Abbots Avenue West south eastwards and south westwards to its junction with Watling View, a distance of approximately 801m. An alternative route will be via Abbots Avenue West, Trumpington Drive, Maynard Drive, Doggetts Way, Tavistock Avenue and Watling View.
2. that length of Paxton Road, St Albans from its junction with Watsons Walk south eastwards for a distance of approximately 160m.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
3. that length of Lower Paxton Road, St Albans from its junction with Paxton Road north eastwards and south westwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads. If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 17 September 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS IN ST ALBANS) ORDER NO.3 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads ("the Roads"):-
1. that length of A1081 London Road, St Albans from its junction with Alma Cut south eastwards and north westwards for a distance of approximately 40m.
An alternative route will be via A1081 London Road, A5183 (Holywell Hill/St Stephens Hill/Watling Street), A414 North Orbital Road and A1081 London Road.
2. that length of Alma Cut, St Albans from its junction with A1081 London Road south westwards for a distance of approximately 6m.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
The Order is needed because gas connection works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads. If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 17 September 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF TOWNSEND LANE, HARPENDEN) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of
the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of
Townsend Lane, Harpenden from its junction with Douglas Road north eastwards to its junction
with Alpins Close, a distance of approximately 188m ("the Road"), except for access.
An alternative route will be via Douglas Road, A1081 Luton Road and Townsend Lane.
The Order is needed because the replacement of existing gas mains is proposed to be executed
on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 16 September 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF B652 KIMPTON BOTTOM, HARPENDEN) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of B652 Kimpton Bottom, Harpenden from its junction with Plummers Lane north eastwards and south eastwards to its junction with Common Lane, a distance of approximately 597m ("the Road"). An alternative route will be via B652 Bower Heath Lane, B653 Lower Luton Road, B651 Lamer Lane, Kimpton Road, B651 (Ballslough Hill/High Street) and B652 (High Street/Kimpton Bottom). The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road. If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 17 September 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN ROYAL ROAD,
ST ALBANS) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Royal Road, St Albans from its junction with A1057 Hatfield Road north westwards for a distance of approximately 50m ("the Road").
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the Road whilst works are in progress.
The Order is needed because mobile crane works are proposed to be executed near the Road. If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 18 September 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY 40MPH SPEED RESTRICTIONS ON B5378 SHENLEY LANE, LONDON COLNEY)
ORDER 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from being driven at a speed exceeding 40mph on that length of B5378 Shenley Lane, London Colney from a point in line with the northern boundary of No.153 Shenley Lane south eastwards, southwards and south eastwards for a distance of approximately 351m ("the Road"), when signs are in place. The Order is needed because water service connection works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 2 September 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF A1081 CHEQUER STREET, ST ALBANS) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the southbound carriageway of A1081 Chequer Street, St Albans from a point 46m north east of a point in line with the northern boundary of No.10 Chequer Street south westwards for a distance of approximately 46m ("the Road").
An alternative route will be via A1081 (Chequer Street/St Peters Street), A4147 (Catherine Street/Folly Lane), A5183 (Folly Lane/Verulam Road/High Street) and A1081 Chequer Street. The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road. The Order has been made and shall come into force on 3 September 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN VARIOUS ROADS IN LONDON COLNEY, ST ALBANS AND WHEATHAMPSTEAD) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads ("the Roads"), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-
1. that length of A1081 London Colney Bypass, London Colney from its junction with the A414 London Colney roundabout south eastwards to its junction with the A1081 The Bell roundabout, a distance of approximately 2185m.
An alternative route will be via A414 North Orbital Road, A1001 Roehyde Way, the A1(M) and
the M25
or via A414 North Orbital Road, A5183 (Watling Street/Park Street/Frogmore/Radlett Road/Watling Street), B556 (Harper Lane/Bell Lane) and A1081 Bell Link Overbridge.
2. that length of Beechtree Lane, St Albans from its junction with A4147 Hemel Hempstead Road north westwards and north eastwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
3. that length of Amwell Lane, Wheathampstead from its junction with Brewhouse Hill south westwards to its junction with Down Green Lane, a distance of approximately 651m.
An alternative route will be via Brewhouse Hill, Butterfield Road, B651 (The Hill/Wheathampstead Road), Ferrers Lane and Down Green Lane.
4. that length of Down Green Lane, Wheathampstead from its junction with Amwell Lane south eastwards to its junction with Ferrers Lane, a distance of approximately 929m.
An alternative route will be via Amwell Lane, Brewhouse Hill, Butterfield Road, B651 (The Hill/Wheathampstead Road) and Ferrers Lane.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads. The Order has been made and shall come into force on 2 September 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN COTTON MILL LANE AND HIGHFIELD PARK DRIVE, ST ALBANS) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads ("the Roads") and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-
1. that length of Cotton Mill Lane, St Albans from a point 50m south west of its junction with Cottonmill Crescent south westwards for a distance of approximately 62m.
An alternative route will be via Cottonmill Lane, Old London Road, Sopwell Lane, Thorpe Road, Belmont Hill, A5183 Holywell Hill, Prospect Road and Cottonmill Lane.
2. that length of Highfield Park Drive, St Albans from its junction with the A1081 London Road roundabout north eastwards for a distance of approximately 298m.
An alternative route will be via A1081 London Road, Drakes Drive, Frobisher Road, Hill End Lane, Nightingale Lane and Highfield Park Drive.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads. The Order has been made and shall come into force on 2 September 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF MOUNT PLEASANT LANE, BRICKET WOOD) ORDER NO.2 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Mount Pleasant Lane, Bricket Wood from a point 24m north west of its junction with School Lane north westwards for a distance of approximately 60m ("the Road").
An alternative route will be via Mount Pleasant Lane, Station Road, Lye Lane, West Riding and Mount Pleasant Lane.
The Order is needed because wingwalls repair works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road. The Order has been made and shall come into force on 2 September 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.
