Various Roads in Edinburgh - Traffic Restrictions due to Filming of Prodigal Father
What is happening?
THE CITY OF EDINBURGH COUNCIL
(PRODIGAL FATHER FILMING)
(TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTION AND TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2024 – TEMP/24/164
The Council, with the consent of Scottish Ministers, has made an order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be that for a temporary period, to facilitate the holding of Prodigal Father filming, no person shall: (a) drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle on any part of the lengths of roads specified in Sch 1, where closures will apply to roads in their entirety unless otherwise stated; (b) walk or cause or permit any person to walk on any part of the lengths of footways specified in Sch 2, where prohibitions will apply to footways in their entirety unless otherwise stated; (c) except with the permission of a Parking Attendant, cause or permit any vehicle to wait or load onto or unload from any vehicle on any part of the lengths of road specified in Sch 3, where prohibitions will apply to both sides of the roads in their entirety unless otherwise stated; & (d) except with the permission of a Parking Attendant, cause or permit any vehicle to wait on the section of road described in Sch 4. Existing restrictions will be suspended on the affected sections of roads described in Sch 3 & 4. The following restriction will be suspended from 12:00hrs on 13/9/24 to 12:00hrs on 15/9/24: prohibited right turn from Holyrood Rd into St Mary’s St, to allow general traffic to make the manoeuvre.
The alternative routes for vehicular traffic with respect to the closures are via: (1) Niddry St – High St, St Mary’s St & Cowgate; (2) St Giles’ St, Lawnmarket & High Street – Market St, Bank St & Nth Bank St; & (3) Canongate & Old Tolbooth Wynd – Horse Wynd, Queen’s Drv, Holyrood Gait, Holyrood Rd & St Mary’s St. The following roads are not through roads and have no available diversion: West Parliament Sq & Bakehouse Cl. The order shall have effect during the hours and on the dates specified in the Schedules.

(B) from 07:00hrs on 6/9/24 to 18:00hrs on 14/9/24 on West Parliament Sq;
(C) from 08:00hrs on 8/9/24 to 18:00hrs on 16/9/24 on Bakehouse Cl;
(D) from 06:00hrs on 10/9/24 to 07:00hrs on 14/9/24 on St Giles’ St, from 30m east of its jnct with Nth Bank St, eastwards and then southwards to its jnct with High St;
(E) from 06:00hrs to 23:00hrs on 12/9/24 on: (i) Lawnmarket, from George IV Bridge to St Giles’ St; & (ii) High St, from Lawnmarket to Parliament Sq; & (F) from 12:00 hours on 13/9/24 to 12:00hrs on 15/9/24 on: (i) Canongate, from New St to Reid’s Ct; & (ii) Old Tolbooth Wynd, from its jnct with Canongate, northwards for 20m.
