What is happening?

(Temporary Traffic Restrictions) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that on the 23rd day of August 2024 Somerset Council made the above Order in exercise of the provisions of Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as previously advertised on the 15th day of August 2024, to introduce temporary traffic restrictions on the roads specified in the Schedules below.

This Order will come into operation on the 29th day of August 2024 and will remain in force for eighteen months.

The Works are expected to commence on the 8th day of September 2024 and last for one day (between 0800 hours and 1630 hours) to enable Walton Civil Engineering Ltd working on behalf of Wales and West Utilities to carry out Interim reinstatement to permanent works.

The restrictions will only apply when indicated by traffic signs.

Schedule 1
Temporary Prohibition of Vehicles
B3081 South Street, Wincanton – From its junctions with the High Street and the B3081 Market Place for a distance of 52 metres.

Schedule 2
Temporary Suspension of the One Way
B3081 South Street, Wincanton – from a point 52 metres south of its junctions with the High Street and the B3081 Market Place to its junction with Balsam Fields.

Statement of reasons for making the Order
a) because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road; b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.
