What is happening?

Norfolk County Council TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2024 (NORWICH) Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984

Norfolk County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, hereby give notice that:

(i) THEY PROPOSE TO MAKE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

CHRISTCHURCH ROAD & JESSOP ROAD -

1) Christchurch Road from 50m north of its junction with Jessop Road for 30m southwards; and

2) Jessopp Road from 50m east of its junction with Christchurch Road for 30m westwards to facilitate telecoms pole installation works between 08:30 and 15:30 on 3rd September 2024 (may continue until 15th October 2024). Alternative route is via: 1) Christchurch Road, Unthank Road, Colman Road, The Avenues, and vice versa; and 2) Jessopp Road, Portersfield Road, Avenue Road, The Avenues, Colman Road, Jessopp Road and vice versa.

YORK STREET - 1) York Street from its junction with Unthank Road to the point at which the street becomes pedestrianised to the east; and 2) York Street from its junction with Newmarket Street to the point at which the street becomes pedestrianised to the west; 3) York Street from its junction with Unthank Road to the point at which the street becomes pedestrianised to the east; and 4) York Street from its junction with Newmarket Street to the point at which the street becomes pedestrianised to the west to facilitate replacement of lead water main works. The roads 1 and 2 will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) and traffic over the roads 3 and 4 shall be temporarily prohibited to park, stop, load, and/or unload from 2nd September to 4th October 2024 (may continue until 4th April 2025). Alternative route is via: Newmarket Street, Gloucester Street, Unthank Road.

(ii) THEY HAVE MADE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

ST JOHN MADDERMARKET AND POTTERGATE -

1) St John Maddermarket from its junction with Pottergate for 100m northwards and 2) Pottergate from its junction with St John Maddermarket for 20m westwards to facilitate churchyard wall repairs. The road 1) will be temporarily closed and traffic over road

2) will be temporarily prohibited to park, stop or load/ unload between 09:00 and 16:00 from 27th August to 4th October 2024 (may continue until the 4th April 2025). Alternative route is via: 1) Lobster Lane, Exchange Street and St. Andrews Street; and 2) N/A.

N.B Please note that the closure/restriction will be in place Monday to Friday only.

MAUD STREET - from its junction with Connaught Road to its junction with St. Philips Road to facilitate Anglian Water new water mains connection works from 27th to 29th August 2024 (may continue until the 10th October 2024). Alternative route is via: Connaught Road, Sandringham Road, St. Philips Road.

MORNINGTON ROAD - from its junction with Colman Road for 50m north-eastwards to facilitate civil engineering works from 27th to 29th August 2024 (may continue until 10th October 2024). Alternative route is via: Colman Road, Unthank Road, Christchurch Road.

ROCKINGHAM ROAD - from its junction with Friends Road for 20m eastwards to facilitate Cadent gas repair works on 28th August 2024 (may continue until 9th October 2024). Alternative route is via: Wilberforce Road, Earlham Road, Earlham Green Lane, Hutchinson Road, Earlham West Centre, Rockingham Road and vice versa.

TURNER ROAD - from its junction with Dereham Road for 15m northwards to facilitate Norfolk County Council defective road resurfacing repairs between 08:00 and 18:00 on 29th August 2024 (may continue until 10th October 2024). Alternative route is via: Dereham Road, Hotblack Road, Atthill Road and vice versa.

Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by vehicles of the named road(s)/footpath(s). In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance. Where an Order is for a reason other than works it is because of the likelihood of danger to the public or of serious damage to the road/ footpath.

Anticipated dates are stated but the Orders may continue until the end date where necessary or required.

The Orders are revoked on the end date or on the actual date of removal of the prohibition/restriction where earlier without further notice. If necessary, the restrictions can have a maximum duration of 18 months for vehicular highway or 6 months for non-vehicular highway. Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
